Yes. Restream can start a scheduled pre-recorded YouTube event while you are offline, so the computer or phone you used to upload and schedule it does not need to stay on. The key distinction is that setup happens in advance; Restream handles the scheduled broadcast. Repeating a video is more limited: Restream documents up to 10 loops, a maximum event length of 40 hours, and a paid-plan requirement for looping.
How to schedule a pre-recorded YouTube stream in Restream
- Enable YouTube live streaming. Make sure live streaming is enabled on the channel, then connect that channel to Restream. Restream’s YouTube guidance says the connected account should be the channel owner. For a first live stream, it says phone verification and a 24-hour wait are required. - Upload or import your video. Restream supports desktop and mobile uploads, as well as imports from Google Drive and Dropbox. You can use a device to prepare the event, but it need not remain online once the scheduled broadcast is underway. Read about Upload & Stream.
- Create the prerecorded event. In Restream, create a prerecorded livestream, choose the video, enter the event details and scheduled time, select YouTube as a destination, and create the event. Restream says the event begins automatically at the scheduled time.
- Set repeats if needed. While configuring the video event, choose the number of repetitions. Restream’s current help guidance allows up to 10 loops for one event. See the scheduling guide.
What looping can and cannot do
Single-video repeats
Restream’s loop documentation describes looping as a paid feature and sets a maximum of 10 repetitions and 40 hours for a looped event. Its scheduling guide names Marathon and Media add-on plans for looping; check Restream’s current plan details before purchasing because plan names and entitlements can change. Playlists
Restream says playlist looping is not supported as a one-click feature. Its documented workaround is to duplicate videos in the playlist, up to 40 entries total. That creates a finite sequence; it is not an indefinite 24/7 broadcast. Restream’s loop guide.
Events and plan differences
Restream says its Events feature is available on all plans, but free users’ event thumbnails carry Restream branding. Its scheduling page describes different video-library and resolution limits across Premier, Marathon, and Media tiers. Those limits and plan entitlements are changeable, so consult the current plan page rather than relying on an old storage or resolution figure. YouTube event setup.

Prepare a compatible video file
Restream’s video guide specifies the following media requirements and recommendations. These are Restream’s stated parameters, not the result of independent upload testing.

Choose the workflow that matches the runtime
- One scheduled airing: Upload the video and schedule a prerecorded event. The device used to set it up can be offline during the broadcast.
- A limited number of repeats: Use Restream’s loop setting if your plan includes it, and keep the total event within its documented limits.
- A repeated playlist: Duplicating entries is Restream’s documented workaround, but the 40-entry cap makes it finite rather than a continuous channel.
- Continuous 24/7 playback: Restream’s cited loop limits do not establish an indefinite 24/7 loop. Consider a service designed for always-on cloud playback instead.
YouTube checks before the event
- Confirm that YouTube live streaming is enabled on the channel and complete first-time verification requirements before relying on a scheduled start.
- Check that the connected YouTube account owns the channel, as Restream’s setup guidance specifies.
- Use video and audio you have the rights to broadcast. YouTube’s copyright rules still apply to prerecorded material; a scheduled event does not grant permission to use music, footage, or other protected content.
- Review the event’s destination, title, schedule, and selected video before creating it. A cloud start removes the need to leave a computer running, not the need to configure the broadcast correctly.
Troubleshooting a scheduled prerecorded stream
- The video will not upload: Check that its container is MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV, its video is H.264, its audio is AAC, and its keyframe interval is 2, as required in Restream’s guide.
- The event does not appear on YouTube: Verify that YouTube is selected as a destination and that the connected account is the channel owner. Confirm live streaming is enabled; first-time channels may need phone verification and the stated 24-hour wait.
- The event starts but stops before the intended duration: Check the configured repeat count and total runtime against Restream’s limits: up to 10 loops and up to 40 hours for a looped event.
- A playlist stops instead of repeating forever: Restream does not document native playlist looping. Duplicating entries is a workaround capped at 40 playlist entries, not an indefinite stream.
- The thumbnail shows Restream branding: Restream says free users’ event thumbnails include its branding. Check the current plan details if unbranded event thumbnails matter.
