Not directly, according to Larix’s published documentation. Larix Broadcaster is documented for live mobile capture and streaming, not for selecting a prerecorded video in Google Drive as an encoder source. A conditional workaround is to play the video on your device and stream its screen with Larix Screencaster, but whether Google Drive audio is captured depends on the device, operating system and app. Test privately before broadcasting.
What Larix Broadcaster can—and cannot—do with a Drive video
Softvelum describes Larix Broadcaster as mobile broadcasting software for streaming live video and audio from iOS and Android devices. Its documented capabilities include camera capture, recording, RTMP(S) publishing and USB OTG video/audio sources. The documentation reviewed does not describe opening a Google Drive file and sending it directly to YouTube Live as a prerecorded video source. That means direct Drive-file input is not an established Broadcaster workflow; this is a conclusion from the published feature descriptions, not a hands-on test. Softvelum’s Larix Broadcaster page and product documentation describe the supported role and inputs.
Workaround: stream the device screen with Larix Screencaster
If you need to use the Drive copy on a phone or tablet, you can try playing it on that device while Larix Screencaster captures and streams the screen. This is a screen-capture workaround, not direct file ingestion, and it may not capture sound from Google Drive.
- Check audio support on your device. Softvelum’s Android guidance says Android 10 and later can capture audio from apps that support external recording. Its iOS guidance describes restrictions and dependence on ReplayKit-compatible app audio. Whether the current Google Drive app permits audio capture on your particular device is not established. See the Larix Screencaster documentation and iOS guidance.
- Set up the YouTube encoder destination. Enable live streaming in YouTube, then create or select the live stream in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key; Larix’s connection settings use the destination URL together with the stream name/key. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup instructions and Larix connection setup.
- Configure Screencaster and test. Enter the YouTube destination details in the encoder connection settings, start a private or unlisted test stream, and play the Drive video. Confirm that both picture and sound arrive correctly before making a public broadcast. App-audio capture is dependent on operating-system and app support, so a successful screen capture does not guarantee audio.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: do not share it or show it on screen, and replace it if it is exposed.
When this workaround is a poor fit
Screen streaming is useful only if the video can play on the device and the screen/audio capture behaves as needed. Before relying on it for a scheduled or long-running broadcast, test the exact phone or tablet, Google Drive app, video and YouTube destination. If direct file playback as an encoder input is essential, the reviewed Larix Broadcaster documentation does not establish that capability.
