Yes—if your goal is to loop prerecorded videos continuously on YouTube Live, Gyre can take over the stream-source job that OBS would otherwise handle. Gyre hosts uploaded files in the cloud, so your computer does not have to stay on and send the broadcast. It is not established as a full OBS replacement for camera feeds, custom scenes, graphics, or other live-production workflows.
What “replace OBS” means in this case
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as a cloud service for continuous prerecorded-video streams. In that specific workflow, Gyre can play the role of the source and streaming service: you upload the files, arrange them, connect the YouTube channel, and start a broadcast.
With a local OBS workflow, your computer runs the encoder and sends the stream over your internet connection. With Gyre’s described cloud workflow, the files are uploaded to Gyre and its cloud servers send the stream. That removes the need to keep your own computer and home connection carrying the broadcast.
The conclusion is narrower than “Gyre replaces OBS.” The available feature information does not establish parity for OBS production features such as live camera inputs, scene switching, graphics, or other custom live mixes. If those are part of your show, compare those requirements separately rather than assuming a prerecorded-video service can reproduce them.

How Gyre’s prerecorded-video workflow works
- Prepare the source files. Upload the actual video files to Gyre Storage. Gyre’s Help Center instructions say this applies even to videos already published on YouTube; a YouTube video URL or playlist alone is not the source material for this workflow. The help article also recommends checking and converting files, but its specific encoding values should not be treated as current YouTube requirements without checking current guidance.
- Build a playlist. Arrange the uploaded videos in the desired order. Gyre describes the playlist repeating when it reaches the end, allowing a continuous loop.
- Connect the YouTube channel. Gyre describes an API authorization option that can automate broadcast creation and bind a stream key. Manual setup using a YouTube stream key and RTMP address is also available, according to its YouTube API integration guide.
- Set broadcast details and launch. The API workflow can send metadata such as titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails, and manage stream state. Confirm the title, description, visibility, and other settings in the flow you choose before starting.
Gyre’s homepage describes its service as looping prerecorded videos continuously in the cloud and automatically restarting streams. That is a vendor description, not an independent performance guarantee.
What you still need to check on YouTube
Channel eligibility
Gyre’s API guide says its described channel-authorization workflow requires a verified YouTube channel, live streaming enabled, and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check your account’s current status and YouTube’s current help information before relying on API authorization.

Monetization settings
Gyre says streams created through third-party tools may not automatically inherit monetization unless the YouTube Studio setting to apply monetization defaults to third-party streams is enabled. Streaming through Gyre does not itself guarantee revenue.
Rights and YouTube policies
Use videos you have the rights to stream, including any music, footage, narration, or other included material. The available sources do not establish a blanket YouTube approval for every continuous stream or reuse of previously published content. Review current YouTube rules for copyright, live streaming, and monetization before scheduling a loop; neither a cloud service nor an encoder guarantees policy approval, monetization, or recommendations.

Gyre versus OBS for this job
| Decision point | Gyre | OBS workflow |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit | Continuous playback of uploaded prerecorded files. | A locally operated desktop workflow; relevant when the production depends on local control or live inputs. |
| Where the stream runs | Gyre’s cloud infrastructure, using files uploaded to its storage. | Your computer runs the encoder and sends the stream. |
| Source management | Upload files to Gyre and arrange them in a playlist. | Manage playback and stream configuration locally. |
| YouTube setup | API authorization can automate broadcast creation and metadata; manual stream-key setup is also described. | OBS is the desktop workflow being compared; a current feature-by-feature setup comparison is not established here. |
| Price information established here | Gyre’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, displays a seven-day trial and paid subscriptions starting at $49 per month; its September 2026 update describes a $49–$169 monthly range. | A current OBS price is not established here. |
Gyre’s displayed pricing and plan terms are vendor-published and may change. Its current pricing page shows a trial limited to one HD stream, 20 GB of storage for up to 15 files, and a Gyre watermark. The September 2026 update says concurrent stream counts vary by paid plan. Check Gyre’s live pricing page for the terms that apply when you sign up.
When Gyre is a sensible substitute—and when it is not
- Consider Gyre if the production is a fixed or rotating playlist of prerecorded files and you want the stream to run without leaving your computer on.
- Keep a local production workflow such as OBS in consideration if you need to mix live sources, manage scenes, or exercise production control locally. The information available here does not establish that Gyre provides those functions.
- Compare the total practical cost, including Gyre’s subscription, storage and simultaneous-stream limits, against the value of avoiding a continuously running local computer and connection. This comparison does not establish a current price for OBS or your electricity and internet costs.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your requirement is simply to keep prerecorded videos looping on YouTube, StreamNeo is another cloud option: it keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload your recording or create a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it also automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start your free first day.
