If a monetized 24/7 broadcast is still live, YouTube may show ads even when you are not personally present. If the broadcast has ended, an eligible, available replay may earn Watch Page ad revenue when viewers watch it. Neither outcome is guaranteed: YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.
What “offline” means for ad revenue
The broadcast is still live, but you are away
Your absence does not itself stop ads. If your channel is eligible for ad revenue, monetization is enabled for the stream, and YouTube serves an ad, the live broadcast can earn ad revenue while it continues. YouTube automatically turns on pre-roll and display ads for monetized live streams; mid-roll ads can be automatic or inserted manually. An ad opportunity may go unfilled, so a live stream does not earn from every viewer or every moment. YouTube Help: Monetize your live stream.
The broadcast has ended, but a replay is available
A replay is a separate viewing opportunity. Eligible YouTube Partner Program (YPP) partners can earn Watch Page ad revenue from long-form videos and live-stream videos, including when played in the YouTube player embedded on another site, if they accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. The replay must exist, remain available, be eligible for monetization, and receive views; the stream’s past duration alone does not generate ongoing revenue. YouTube Help: Choose how you want to monetize.
There is no live broadcast and no replay being watched
A channel being offline is not an ad-viewing event. Revenue after the broadcast ends would come from eligible views of an available replay or other monetized content—not from the fact that a 24/7 stream ran earlier.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What you need before a stream can earn ad revenue
- Qualify for YPP ad revenue. YouTube’s YPP overview lists 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days for ad-revenue eligibility. A channel must also meet the program requirements and pass YouTube’s review. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s YPP overview and in YouTube Studio; thresholds and terms can change.
- Accept the applicable monetization terms. To earn Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue on long-form or live-stream videos, you must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. This matters for replay revenue as well as other Watch Page viewing. See YouTube’s monetization options.
- Enable monetization for the live stream. YouTube says monetization must be enabled for ads to be triggered on a live stream. Review the stream’s monetization settings in YouTube Studio before going live. Available controls and labels can change, so use the current Studio interface.
- Use content you have the rights to monetize. YouTube’s channel monetization policies and advertiser-friendly guidelines apply. When enabling ads, creators confirm they have the necessary rights to the stream’s visual and audio elements. A stream’s documentary footage, music, narration, photographs, or other material can raise rights issues even if the channel meets YPP thresholds. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies and advertiser-friendly content guidelines.
Plan for the replay before starting a 24-hour broadcast
Do not assume that YouTube will preserve one complete archive of a single 24-hour stream. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a replay matters for later viewing or potential Watch Page revenue, arrange a recording or broadcast plan that preserves the content; YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
This creates a practical trade-off: one continuous 24/7 broadcast may serve live viewers, but it is not a reliable way to guarantee a complete replay. If you need an archive, plan how to retain it rather than relying on the automatic archive for a stream longer than 12 hours.

What ad revenue figures can—and cannot—tell you
YouTube reported an average “over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour” among channels that turned on live automatic mid-roll ads compared with channels that did not, averaged across 207 countries. This is YouTube’s reported comparison, not a promise, a guaranteed result, or a causal estimate for an individual channel. Actual ad delivery and earnings vary, and YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve.
