RM has not assigned “Come Back to Me” one fixed meaning. BigHit Music framed the song around thoughts of right and wrong, while RM later described its central motion as a cycle: wanting stability while wandering, then wanting to wander again once stability arrives. Released as a prerelease single from his 2024 album Right Place, Wrong Person, it also serves as the album’s final track.
What did RM say “Come Back to Me” is about?
In an album conversation with Jimin published by the BTS Interview Archive on May 25, 2024, RM connected the song to a recurring movement between uncertainty and security: “I think everything goes round and round. When you’re wandering you want to find stability and when you find stability you want to wander again. I think this story about wandering, stability, and wandering again is all reflected in ‘Come back to me’”
That explanation points to a tension rather than a settled destination. The wish to return can coexist with the wish to leave; finding stability does not necessarily end the desire to move. RM’s account offers a way into the song, not a definitive interpretation that rules out other readings.
How did BigHit Music frame the song?
In its May 7, 2024 release announcement, BigHit Music described “Come Back to Me” as indie pop that explores thoughts about what is right and wrong—the main theme of Right Place, Wrong Person. That is the label’s framing. RM’s later comments focus more specifically on the back-and-forth between wandering and stability, so the two descriptions illuminate different aspects rather than needing to be treated as competing explanations.

Where does it fit in Right Place, Wrong Person?
BigHit announced the song as a prerelease from RM’s second solo album. It was scheduled to arrive with its music video on May 10, 2024, two weeks before the album’s May 24 release. Yonhap reported that the album has 11 tracks.
RM later called “Come Back to Me” both the single and the album’s final track, describing the project as returning to the idea expressed in the song. Its position at the end gives that idea a structural role: the album closes on the same pull between movement and a search for somewhere to settle.
