The show was part of Mellencamp’s Live and In Person 2024 Tour. His official website’s March 11, 2024 report, credited to Chris Jordan of the Asbury Park Press, links to a video of the performance: John Mellencamp brings out Bruce Springsteen at NJPAC.
How this fits their earlier collaboration
The Newark appearance followed an earlier musical collaboration: Springsteen sang on “Wasted Days,” from Mellencamp’s 2021 album Strictly A One-Eyed Jack. The artists also performed that song at the November Stand Up for Heroes benefit in New York, according to the NJPAC report. The report characterizes the Newark show as a “performance,” with spoken interludes, familiar songs and audience interaction.

Finding the right “Pink Houses” video
The video linked from Mellencamp’s report is the one associated with the March 10, 2024 NJPAC duet. Apple Music also lists a separate “Pink Houses (Live)” music video from 2018; that listing is not the Newark performance: Apple Music: “Pink Houses (Live)”.

In a 2017 CBS News interview, Mellencamp discussed how changes in Indiana’s landscape and pressure from corporate farming on small family farms informed his album Scarecrow and connected those concerns to Farm Aid. He also said that performing songs live helps keep them alive. That is context for Mellencamp’s broader work, not evidence that the Newark duet carried a particular political message.
