The family initially did not identify the cancer; on August 11, the Los Angeles Times reported that a county coroner confirmed melanoma as the cause of death.
What was Brandon Blackstock’s cause of death?
A representative for Blackstock’s family told The Associated Press that he had battled cancer for more than three years and died peacefully, surrounded by family. The family’s August 7 statement did not name the cancer. Four days later, the Los Angeles Times reported that Butte-Silver Bow County coroner Dan Hollis confirmed melanoma as the cause of death and natural causes as the manner. The Times also reported, citing the coroner, that Blackstock died at his Montana home while under hospice care.
