Short answer: choose BoxCast Spark if you want an encoder built around BoxCast’s streaming platform and need a choice of HDMI or SDI, Resi Mini if Resi’s workflow suits your production and 1080p60 is sufficient, or Blackmagic Web Presenter HD if you need an SDI-to-RTMP/SRT encoder with monitoring outputs and USB webcam mode. Before buying, match the exact model to your source output, required resolution, network and platform workflow—and include any required service subscription in the cost.

“Blackmagic Web Presenter” can mean two distinct devices. This comparison identifies the HD model when discussing Web Presenter HD; Web Presenter 4K is a separate model with different streaming capability. Specifications and listed prices below reflect manufacturer pages accessed October 3, 2026, where stated. Feature and reliability language from manufacturers is not independent testing.

Check the output from the camera or switcher

Choose the encoder input that matches the signal you will actually feed it. Spark and Resi Mini are each offered in HDMI and SDI variants. Blackmagic Web Presenter HD takes SDI; if your source only offers HDMI, you will need an appropriate signal-conversion path or a different encoder. Confirm connector type and signal format at every point between camera, switcher and encoder.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Spark is a single-video-input encoder intended to sit downstream of production equipment such as a switcher, according to BoxCast Support’s compatible resolutions and frame rates article, dated June 17, 2026. It is not a multi-camera switcher.

Do not confuse input support with stream output

An encoder may accept a high-resolution input without sending a stream at that resolution. Resi Mini’s manufacturer specification is up to 1080p60. Web Presenter HD streams up to 1080p60; the separate Web Presenter 4K is the model for Ultra HD streaming. BoxCast’s current materials describe Spark as capable of 4K60 streaming, but say it cannot stream at 4K60 and record locally at the same time. Spark also selects a streaming resolution based on its input and available bandwidth, so verify the intended mode and destination compatibility before production.

BoxCast’s older May 2024 comparison article lists Spark’s maximum streaming quality as 1080p60. Its current product information and June 2026 support article describe higher capability; for present-day planning, use those newer materials and check the actual model, firmware and recording requirements rather than relying on the older comparison table. How the platform and protocol affect the choice

BoxCast Spark: a BoxCast-centered workflow

Spark is built to work with BoxCast’s platform, and BoxCast states that a paid subscription plan is required. Its listed features include scheduling, multistreaming, live preview, touchscreen controls, network speed testing and microSD backup recording. Technical specifications list H.264 and H.265 encoding, BoxCast Flow and RTP over UDP. If you want that managed workflow, evaluate the subscription as part of the purchase rather than comparing the hardware price alone.

Resi Mini: Resi RSP and service ecosystem

Resi Mini encodes H.264 and runs Resi’s Resilient Streaming Protocol (RSP). Resi describes automated scheduling, adaptive video quality, cloud distribution to multiple platforms and support as platform features. Those are Resi’s descriptions of its service; they are not independent comparative findings. The Mini itself is specified for up to 1080p60, so do not assume it provides 4K streaming based on its input connector or features of other Resi devices.

Blackmagic Web Presenter HD: direct streaming and webcam mode

Web Presenter HD can stream over Ethernet using RTMP or SRT in H.264, or provide a USB-C webcam output up to 1080p60 for compatible computer-based workflows. Blackmagic lists compatibility with a range of streaming software and services. This is a more device-centered protocol workflow than an encoder tied to one named platform, but you remain responsible for configuring the destination and any software or service around it.

Blackmagic documents Web Presenter HD and Web Presenter 4K separately on its technical specifications page. Do not treat HD-model specifications or regional prices as universal specifications or quotes for the 4K model.

Connectivity, audio and monitoring

BoxCast Spark

BoxCast lists Ethernet and dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and analog audio inputs with level adjustment. The technical specification sheet lists HDMI 2.0a or up to 12G-SDI depending on the version. Its microSD recording can provide a local recording option, but not simultaneously with 4K60 streaming according to BoxCast Support’s June 2026 article. Confirm the planned resolution and recording mode together.

Resi Mini

The Mini HDMI model has one HDMI Type A input and two-channel embedded audio. Resi lists the SDI version with 10-bit 3G-SDI, loop out, locking connections and two-channel embedded audio at 24-bit, 48 kHz. The Resi product page reviewed does not specify an onboard display, local recording or Wi-Fi. That is a limit of the published information cited here, not proof that a particular configuration has no such capability.

Blackmagic Web Presenter HD

Blackmagic lists an SDI input, SDI loop and monitoring outputs, HDMI monitor output, USB-C webcam output, Ethernet and a 2.2-inch color display. These monitoring paths can matter when an operator needs to check the incoming signal or feed a separate monitor. Confirm how your audio is embedded or routed into the SDI source; the listed Web Presenter HD connection is SDI.

Published prices and total cost

Manufacturer-listed prices accessed October 3, 2026 are useful starting points, but they do not establish equivalent total cost. BoxCast’s page lists Spark HDMI for $999 and SDI for $1,299, and requires a paid BoxCast subscription. Resi lists Mini HDMI starting at $799.99 and SDI starting at $1,199.99; check Resi for the service plan needed for your intended workflow. Blackmagic’s cited technical page is the Singapore regional site and lists prices in Singapore dollars, not universal pricing.

Before committing, add the recurring platform or service charge, any needed conversion hardware, monitoring or recording equipment, and the cost of a backup network path. Get current quotes for your region and the precise variant: a lower device price alone does not tell you which setup costs less over its intended life.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose BoxCast Spark if you want HDMI or SDI input options, on-device touchscreen controls and a BoxCast-platform workflow, and you have budgeted for the required paid subscription. Consider it when 4K60 streaming matters, while accounting for the restriction on simultaneous 4K60 streaming and local recording.
  • Choose Resi Mini if Resi’s platform and RSP workflow fit your organization, your production tops out at 1080p60, and the HDMI or SDI Mini variant matches your source. Verify current service requirements and network configuration with Resi for the installation.
  • Choose Blackmagic Web Presenter HD if your source provides SDI and you want direct RTMP/SRT streaming, a USB webcam mode, and dedicated monitoring outputs in an HD device. If you need Ultra HD, compare the separate Web Presenter 4K instead.

No independent controlled comparison of reliability, image quality or failure rates among these three devices is established by the cited manufacturer material. Base the decision on published compatibility and features, then validate the intended signal chain and service costs with the vendor before a live event.

Before the first event

  1. Write down the signal path. Record the source device, output connector and format, switcher if used, encoder variant and destination. Resolve any HDMI/SDI mismatch before installation.
  2. Set a realistic delivery format. Select a resolution and frame rate supported by the encoder, destination and available upload bandwidth. For Spark, account for its automatic resolution selection and the 4K60/local-recording limitation. For Mini and Web Presenter HD, plan around 1080p60 maximum streaming.
  3. Confirm audio at the encoder input. Test embedded or analog audio routing and levels as applicable. Listen at the destination, not only at the camera or switcher.
  4. Test the actual network path. Use the wired connection if that is the planned event setup; verify the required service access and destination configuration. A successful test on a different network does not validate the venue path.
  5. Run a full rehearsal. Check picture, audio, monitoring, recording if needed, stream destination and recovery procedure. For an event-critical stream, define who can identify a failed input, network outage or platform-side issue and what backup they will use.

Common buying and setup mistakes

  • Buying by connector label alone: HDMI and SDI variants are not interchangeable without the right conversion path. Match the encoder to the actual switcher output.
  • Assuming 4K input means 4K stream: compare the published stream ceiling for the exact model. Resi Mini and Web Presenter HD are specified up to 1080p60.
  • Assuming every Web Presenter is the same: Web Presenter HD and Web Presenter 4K are separate products. Confirm the model on the quote.
  • Budgeting only for hardware: Spark requires a paid BoxCast subscription, and service costs for the intended Resi workflow should be confirmed. Compare recurring costs and required extras over the same time period.
  • Expecting a feature not documented for the Mini: the reviewed Resi page does not state Wi-Fi, onboard display or local recording details. Ask Resi to confirm the exact requirement instead of inferring either presence or absence.
  • Treating vendor reliability claims as a guarantee: the cited materials do not establish independently measured failure rates. Test the full setup under realistic network and event conditions.

Or let it run in the cloud

These three devices are production encoders for a live signal chain. If your goal is instead to keep an uploaded video or playlist running as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a different kind of option: it runs the loop in the cloud, not from a camera or encoder. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live.

  • Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
  • Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
  • It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card.
