What is Season 3 about?
Amazon’s official synopsis centers on a murder investigation that exposes dangerous secrets and puts Harry Bosch, Honey Chandler, and Maddie Bosch at risk. A family’s disappearance weighs on Harry and tests the limits of justice. Chandler is competing to become Los Angeles district attorney, while Maddie becomes entangled in violent follow-home robberies.
Which books inspired the season?
Amazon identifies Michael Connelly’s Desert Star and The Black Ice as source novels for Season 3. That makes them useful companion reading, not prerequisites for following the show. The season draws on both books; Amazon does not describe it as a scene-by-scene adaptation.

Amazon describes Bosch and Bosch: Legacy together as a nine-season franchise across two series. In a May 29, 2025 US Press Center article, Amazon discussed Harry Bosch’s connection with detective Renee Ballard. Titus Welliver said they form a bond through their work and that Harry sees Renee as a younger version of himself.
