Spoilers for Chapter 20, “Because of Love.” The “ultimate leverage” in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the God Trees’ advantage over the allied shinobi in Sunagakure: while Boruto is kept out of the battle, Matsuri and Ryu put pressure on the people fighting in his place. The threat is not just that the enemy is powerful; the allies are vulnerable while Boruto cannot simply step in and settle the fight.
What does “ultimate leverage” mean in Chapter 20?
The phrase refers to the God Trees’ position in the Sunagakure battle, as described in Renaldo Matadeen’s CBR article about Chapter 20, “Because of Love.” Its account presents Jura’s God Trees as having the advantage against the Konoha and Sunagakure alliance. Boruto is told by Kashin Koji not to enter the fight, leaving the allied shinobi to face the threat without him.

That restriction changes the stakes: the God Trees can exploit the allied force’s exposure while the person readers might expect to turn the tide is being held back. The available account does not establish a specific tactical reason for Koji’s warning, so it is safest to describe Boruto’s absence as a constraint, not claim a motive beyond what is reported.
How do Matsuri and Ryu threaten the alliance?
The account describes two confrontations that put different members of the allied force at risk. It does not support broader conclusions about either enemy’s full abilities or the chapter’s complete battle outcome.

Matsuri targets Konohamaru
Matsuri fights Konohamaru and, after he rejects her advances, begins to devour him. That makes her clash personally charged as well as dangerous: his refusal is followed by an immediate physical threat. The excerpt does not provide enough detail to say how the encounter ends.
Ryu attacks after Sarada refuses to help
A separate search-result summary says Sarada, Mitsuki, Araya, and Yodo confront Ryu. When Sarada refuses to give him information about Boruto, Ryu impales Yodo. This is reported in a secondary summary rather than verified directly against the chapter, so the precise sequence should be treated with that qualification.

Why Boruto cannot simply resolve the battle
In the reported account, Koji tells Boruto not to enter the battle. That means the allies facing Matsuri and Ryu cannot rely on Boruto joining them at that moment, even as the God Trees hold the advantage. The account does not explain the warning’s rationale or establish whether Boruto remains absent for the entire conflict; it only makes clear that he is told to stay out of the fight.

The leverage comes from combining a battlefield advantage with pressure on individual allies. Matsuri’s attack on Konohamaru and Ryu’s reported attack on Yodo show the human cost of the confrontation, while Boruto’s exclusion leaves the alliance without his immediate help. Together, these details frame the God Trees as dangerous not only because they are fighting the alliance, but because they can make the allies’ vulnerability the center of the conflict.

The account available from CBR’s March 18, 2025 article is an excerpt, not a complete chapter transcript. It supports this narrow reading of the battle, but not an exact ending, a full account of the God Trees’ strategy, or a definitive explanation of Koji’s instruction.
