It supports a reading of them as a potentially formidable team, but the official chapter synopsis does not establish that they are dating or that they have mutual romantic feelings.
What Chapter 21 establishes
Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ listing for Chapter 21 gives the chapter the Japanese subtitle 万華鏡写輪眼 (Mangekyo Sharingan). Its synopsis says that, after three years of Boruto being pursued as a traitor accused of killing Naruto, Code and the Claw Grimes attack the Hidden Leaf. Sarada and others respond to the attack, and the grown Boruto appears.

That is meaningful shared context: Boruto and Sarada are connected to the same danger facing the village. But a synopsis is not a panel-by-panel account. It does not establish how much they fight together, what they say to one another, or whether either expresses romantic interest. Those claims require evidence from the chapter itself.
Does the chapter prove they are a power couple?
Not if “power couple” means a confirmed romantic relationship. The official synopsis says nothing about dating, mutual attraction, or an official couple status. Calling them a romantic power couple is therefore a reader interpretation, not a canon fact established by this listing.

The phrase can also mean a formidable partnership rather than a romance. On that looser reading, Chapter 21 sets up potential: two important characters are caught up in the same high-stakes crisis. To show that they are already an effective duo, however, a close reading would need to point to specific scenes demonstrating teamwork, trust, communication, and complementary contributions. The synopsis alone does not verify those qualities.
| Question | What Chapter 21’s official synopsis supports |
|---|---|
| Are Boruto and Sarada involved in the same crisis? | Yes. The synopsis places Sarada and others in response to the Hidden Leaf attack and says Boruto appears. |
| Does it prove they work together effectively? | Not by itself. It does not describe their specific actions or interactions. |
| Does it confirm a romance? | No. It gives no romantic signals or relationship status. |
How the wider story informs the reading
The wider premise makes a partnership between them an appealing possibility. VIZ’s series page describes Boruto returning stronger to face the Hidden Leaf. Its separate Vol. 6 synopsis mentions Sarada’s Mangekyo awakening and Boruto rushing to save Konohamaru; that is broader-series context, not a description of Chapter 21. It suggests why readers may see both characters as consequential, but it does not settle their relationship.

MANGA Plus describes the premise as Boruto being hunted by his own village after everyone’s memories were altered. That shared situation can create substantial stakes for any future alliance with Sarada. Shared stakes, though, are not the same as proof of trust, romantic feeling, or a particular outcome.
What readers can conclude
- Canon: Chapter 21’s synopsis describes a Hidden Leaf attack, Sarada and others responding, and Boruto’s appearance.
- Reasonable interpretation: Their place in the same crisis makes a future partnership a compelling possibility.
- Unconfirmed: The synopsis does not show that they are an established combat duo or romantic couple.
Readers who want to argue for the stronger “power couple” claim should base it on identifiable scenes in the licensed chapter and distinguish what the manga depicts from what they infer. Without that evidence, Chapter 21 is better described as an opening for the idea than proof of it.

Where to read the chapter
Official options include Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ page and the series listings at VIZ and MANGA Plus. Access to chapters varies by location and platform. MANGA Plus lists the series as a monthly simulrelease.
There is also a date discrepancy worth noting if you are checking chapter order: Shonen Jump+ displays October 27, 2025 on its Chapter 21 page, while VIZ lists Chapter 22 as May 20, 2025 and groups Chapters 21–24 before it without displaying a Chapter 21 date. Those listings do not support stating a reconciled release date for Chapter 21.
