England offers a handful of meaningful places for Queen and Freddie Mercury fans, but they are not all the same kind of destination. Some connect directly to Mercury’s life or Queen’s history; others are neighbourhoods associated with London’s wider rock scene, while several are locations used in the 2018 film Bohemian Rhapsody. This list distinguishes those connections and flags places that are best treated as exterior or area visits rather than guaranteed attractions.
How to choose Queen-related stops in England
For a trip grounded in the band’s real history, prioritize Freddie Mercury’s former home in Feltham and Wembley Stadium, where Queen performed at Live Aid. Ealing and parts of London offer biographical or broader music-history context. Film locations can add interest for movie fans, but filming there does not make a site a Queen heritage attraction or guarantee that visitors can enter.
Group London-area places together where practical, and check each site’s current use, access rules and visitor information before setting out. The available sources do not establish current opening hours, admission prices, transport times or tour availability for this ten-stop list.
Ten Queen-inspired places to consider
1. Freddie Mercury’s former home in Feltham
English Heritage identifies the Gladstone Avenue house in Feltham as Mercury’s first home in England. His family moved there after leaving Zanzibar in 1964. The house has an English Heritage blue plaque, announced on 1 September 2016. It remains a private residence: view the plaque and facade respectfully from the public way, and do not expect to go inside. English Heritage’s Freddie Mercury blue plaque page gives the historical connection.

2. Ealing and the former Ealing College of Art
Mercury studied graphic art and design at Ealing College of Art. English Heritage also records that he was introduced there to Smile, the band whose members included Brian May and Roger Taylor. This is a genuine early-life connection, but the source does not confirm that the former college building is identifiable today or open to visitors. Check the site’s identity and access before trying to visit it. English Heritage’s account of Mercury’s early life describes the college connection.
3. Soho, London
VisitBritain includes Soho in its broader account of London’s rock-music history. It makes sense as a neighbourhood to explore for music context, not as a confirmed Queen-specific attraction or a stop on a verified Queen walking tour. VisitBritain’s London rock-music guide offers area-level context.

4. Kensington, London
VisitBritain also points to Kensington as part of London’s rock-history story and notes Queen’s association with the area. Treat this as a neighbourhood-scale connection: the source does not establish a particular Queen exhibition, ticketed attraction or operating tour route. VisitBritain’s London guide is useful for understanding the wider musical setting.
5. Wembley Stadium, London
Queen’s official biography records the band’s Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium on 13 July 1985. That makes the stadium a strong real-world Queen history stop. The historical source does not verify whether stadium tours are currently operating, so check the venue’s official visitor information before planning an interior visit. Freddie Mercury’s official biography records the Live Aid date.

6. Bovingdon Airfield, Hertfordshire
The Bohemian Rhapsody production pressbook names Bovingdon Airfield among the film’s production locations. This is a movie-location detour, not evidence of a Queen historical connection or a public visitor attraction. Check the site’s current use and access rules before going. The film’s production pressbook lists the location.
7. Hornsey Town Hall, north London
Hornsey Town Hall is another location named in the film’s production pressbook. Its connection established here is to the movie’s production; the source does not establish how the site is currently used or whether visitors can enter. Confirm current arrangements before making it part of a trip. The production pressbook identifies the filming location.

8. LH2 Studios, west London
The pressbook also names LH2 Studios as a production location. Because a studio is a working commercial site, do not assume that filming there translates into public access. Check directly whether visitors are welcome before travelling. The film’s production information records the location.
9. Heaven nightclub, London
Heaven nightclub appears among the production locations listed for Bohemian Rhapsody. That establishes a film connection, not a Queen-specific historical attraction or permission to enter outside the venue’s ordinary arrangements. Check its current visitor and event information if you are considering a stop. The production pressbook names Heaven.

What the film connection does—and does not—mean
The production pressbook identifies places used during filming, but it does not establish that each one represents a real Queen event, offers interpretation about the band, or is open to visitors now. Those stops are best suited to fans interested in the film itself. For the song’s real history, Freddie Mercury’s official biography says “Bohemian Rhapsody” was released in 1975 and spent nine weeks at the top of the UK charts; that history is not tied to any of the listed film locations. The official biography provides the song detail.
Quick Recap
Useful planning priorities
- For documented personal history, start with Feltham and Ealing, while respecting the private-home status of Mercury’s former residence and verifying the former college site.
- For London music context, treat Soho and Kensington as neighbourhood visits rather than promised Queen-specific attractions.
- For a major Queen history landmark, consider Wembley and confirm whether any current visitor tour is available through the stadium’s official channels.
- Add film locations only if the production connection matters to you, and verify current access individually—especially at commercial, studio and event venues.
- Cluster London stops and check transport and schedules for outlying destinations before building a route.
