Bob Hawke College in Subiaco was not officially renamed. A PerthNow report published on 25 September 2024 said internet trolls had altered the school’s Google listing to read “Bob Hawk Tuah College.” The report described a change to an online listing—not to the school’s formal name.
What happened to Bob Hawke College’s name?
PerthNow reported that the school’s Google name had been changed to “Bob Hawk Tuah College” several days before its 25 September 2024 article. The wording was a prank that joined the college’s name with the viral “Hawk Tuah” phrase; it was not an announcement that the institution had adopted a new name.
According to the report, a receptionist said school staff had raised the altered listing with Google and were waiting for the company to address it. That account describes the situation at the time of publication. It does not establish whether or when Google later corrected the listing, or whether a similar change happened again.
Who is the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl?
The phrase refers to a viral 2024 clip associated with Haliey Welch, an American woman. PerthNow described the line in the clip as “hawk-tuah, spit on that thing.” Trolls used the phrase as a pun in the altered Google listing. It was not a statement by Welch about Bob Hawke College.
