What is Black Rabbit about?
Jude Law plays Jake Friedken, the charismatic owner of Black Rabbit, a Manhattan restaurant and VIP lounge that he wants to turn into one of New York’s leading hotspots. Jason Bateman plays Jake’s brother, Vince, whose unexpected return brings old traumas, escalating dangers and new pressure on the business.

Netflix frames the series as both a propulsive thriller and a character examination. The central conflict is not simply a crime plot: it is the collision between family loyalty, personal damage and the pursuit of success. As the brothers’ bond destabilizes their world, the restaurant becomes a meeting point for New York’s money, nightlife, ambition and criminal connections.
The central relationship
Law described the show’s emotional hook to Netflix Tudum as “the complicated, loving, volatile relationship of these two brothers.” Bateman similarly characterized Jake and Vince as brothers who love each other but do not match: one is a screw-up, while the other is much more buttoned up.

That tension gives Black Rabbit a family-drama engine inside its thriller framework. Zach Baylin and Kate Susman also use the restaurant as an “epicenter of a city,” a place that can function as a workplace, a second home and a crossroads for very different people.

Who created and directed the series?
Zach Baylin and Kate Susman created Black Rabbit from an original idea and serve as writers and executive producers. Bateman and Law executive-produced the project, alongside producers from Youngblood Pictures, Aggregate Films, Riff Raff Entertainment and Range.

The eight episodes are split among four directors:

Netflix announced the project on March 14, 2024, as a limited series starring and executive-produced by Bateman and Law. The announcement classified it as a one-hour drama.
How many episodes are there, and where can you watch?
Black Rabbit has eight episodes. Netflix’s current guide, dated July 8, 2026, says the complete season is available on Netflix now. That availability statement comes from Netflix and does not guarantee identical catalog access in every territory.

What kind of thriller is it?
The series combines a New York nightlife thriller with a volatile sibling drama. Expect the restaurant and VIP lounge to serve as the pressure cooker: Jake is trying to build a successful enterprise, while Vince’s return reopens personal wounds and exposes the business to threats connected to the brothers’ past.
Bateman told Netflix Tudum that the series aims for an “unsettlingly realistic” feeling rather than a cautionary lesson. That makes the character dynamics as important as the danger surrounding the club.

Recognition and what is not yet established
Netflix Tudum’s 2026 guide notes seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Black Rabbit. It also notes Jude Law nominations at the Golden Globes, Jason Bateman recognition at the Actor Awards and Directors Guild of America Awards, without giving an aggregate total for those honors.
Netflix’s official announcement and current guide do not provide an audience or viewership figure, so there is no substantiated streaming total to report.
