Sam is an assassin with a dangerous past of his own. As he and Helen pursue the truth about Jason’s killing, their investigation links London’s criminal underworld to a wider geopolitical conspiracy. The setup puts a covert operative embedded in family and political life alongside a friend whose skills come from a very different world.
Netflix frames the series as a mix of action, friendship, sacrifice and British wit. Its Christmas-in-London setting gives the thriller a seasonal backdrop, but the central story is the relationship between Helen and Sam and the risks they take as the case widens.

What to expect from season one
The season begins with Helen learning that Jason has been killed and the Black Doves assigning Sam to protect her. The investigation grows more dangerous for both of them as they pursue the people behind the murder and the larger conspiracy comes into view. That premise is enough to set up the series without giving away the turns or ending.
