Black Clover has returned: its second anime season began broadcasting in Japan on October 3, 2026. Crunchyroll lists the season for a wide range of territories, with subtitled episodes scheduled and the dub timing still to be announced. The continuation arrives about five and a half years after the original TV run ended, according to Crunchyroll.
When did Black Clover Season 2 return?
The Japanese broadcast began October 3, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. on TV Tokyo-affiliated stations, according to the official premiere notice. The season is already underway; it is not an upcoming 2026 premiere. The official site had first announced a second season in July 2025, then narrowed its broadcast window to October in June 2026.
Crunchyroll describes the gap from the end of the original run as five and a half years. That is the more precise context behind the rounded “after five years” framing.

Japanese broadcast and streaming
In Japan, the official September notice lists the TV Tokyo-affiliated broadcast and advance streaming on Anime Times, Lemino, U-NEXT, and Anime Hodai. Those are Japan-specific services in the announcement, not a worldwide streaming list. See the official schedule notice for the local details.
What is the new Black Clover season about?
The season moves into the Spade Kingdom conflict. In a world governed by magic, Asta is the one person born without it, but he can wield anti-magic. The Dark Triad, rulers of the Spade Kingdom with devil power, launch an invasion. Among those captured are Heart Kingdom Queen Loropechika and Clover Kingdom captains Yami and William Vangeance. Asta and the Magic Knights set out to gain the strength needed to rescue them and confront the threat.
This is the central setup rather than a detailed plot recap. The official season site also reports more than 25 million manga copies in worldwide cumulative circulation and says the TV anime reached No. 1 viewership in 87 countries and regions; it does not state the measurement date or methodology for those figures.
Who is making Season 2?
Studio Pierrot returns as the animation studio, and Ayataka Tanemura directs. The official staff announcement notes that Tanemura directed the first season and the film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. The announced staff also includes Keiichiro Ochi for series composition, Itsuko Takeda for character design, Kumiko Tokunaga for sub-character design, Kosei Takahashi for object design, and Minako Seki for music.

The ending theme is “Yellow Brick Road” by ONE OR EIGHT, named in the official premiere notice. The official season site quotes creator Yuki Tabata saying the original work has reached a conclusion but will once again reach viewers around the world as animation; he also looks forward to seeing the characters and magic battles animated.

If you want the new season in animated form, start with the earlier TV episodes and continue with Season 2 through a service available in your territory. If you prefer print, the official site lists manga comics volumes 1 through 38. Check the language and edition available where you live; the season announcement does not establish which manga chapter follows the anime, so do not assume a particular volume is a direct handoff point.
