Ciel Phantomhive is a 12-year-old aristocrat, business prodigy and Sebastian Michaelis’s master in the official Black Butler profile. Here are 10 useful facts, with the source version made clear: official character information first, followed by manga and adaptation context where the available evidence supports it. The official profiles establish a reliable core, but not ten separate plot revelations, so this list avoids presenting unverified story details as canon.
Official profile facts
1. The official profile gives Ciel’s age as 12
The official Black Butler USA character profile describes Ciel as 12 years old. Square Enix’s GFantasy publisher page also presents him as 12. This is the age stated in those character materials; it is not a claim that every adaptation or later story moment uses the same framing.

2. He leads the Phantomhive family at a remarkably young age
The publisher’s GFantasy series page identifies Ciel as head of the Phantomhive family. That makes his title more than an aristocratic detail: he carries responsibility for the household and its affairs while still a child.
3. His company is called Funtom Corporation
The official character profile names Ciel’s business Funtom Corporation. It describes the company as a sweets and toy manufacturer, tying his public identity to commercial success as well as his family name.

4. The profile credits him with building Funtom’s position in three years
The same official profile says Ciel made Funtom Corporation Great Britain’s number-one sweets and toy manufacturer “within a mere three years.” That is a characterization claim in the fictional setting, not a real-world ranking or independently measured business statistic.
5. Sebastian is his butler—and his master is Ciel
The official series introduction describes Sebastian as butler to the aristocratic Phantomhive household and calls Ciel his “selfish 12-year-old master.” Their relationship is therefore not simply employer and employee: Ciel gives the orders, while Sebastian serves as the household’s butler.

How to read facts beyond the profile
6. Black Butler began as Yana Toboso’s manga
Square Enix identifies Yana Toboso as the manga’s author and publishes the series through its GFantasy imprint. The publisher’s series page lists collected manga volumes, making the manga the clearest source to consult when checking a character or plot detail against the original story.
7. The publisher’s volume listing is dated information, not a universal availability guarantee
The GFantasy page lists volume 36 and includes a news entry dated September 18, 2026. That establishes what the publisher page listed at that time; it does not establish that every regional edition is currently published, stocked or available in a reader’s territory.

The anime and manga are distinct source contexts. A detail from an anime episode should be identified as an anime detail; a development from a manga chapter should be identified as manga material. The available official pages do not provide a complete adaptation map, so they cannot establish that an older anime storyline reflects the manga’s later canon.
9. The official anime listing identifies the television series, not every current viewing option
Aniplex’s official listing identifies the television anime and names Japanese distribution services including d Anime Store and U-NEXT. Those listings do not confirm streaming rights in other countries or guarantee that a service still carries the series today.

10. Spoiler-heavy identity or arc claims need a chapter-level source
Questions about Ciel’s identity, contract symbolism, engagement, investigations or particular habits can depend on specific manga chapters or anime episodes, and some involve major spoilers. The official profile and publisher summary do not substantiate a detailed ten-item plot-trivia list on their own. For those claims, check the relevant primary story location and label its format and spoiler level rather than presenting it as an adaptation-wide fact.
