At the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2024 induction ceremony, Jelly Roll sang “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and Billy Idol sang “No More Tears” in a three-song tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. Maynard James Keenan opened the set with “Crazy Train.” Ozzy was honored as a solo artist, but he did not sing the songs himself.
Who sang which Ozzy Osbourne song?
The tribute unfolded in this order at the 39th Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 19, 2024, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland:
| Order | Song | Lead vocalist |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | “Crazy Train” | Maynard James Keenan |
| 2 | “Mama, I’m Coming Home” | Jelly Roll |
| 3 | “No More Tears” | Billy Idol |
The Associated Press recap and ABC News account report the tribute and its performers; the song sequence is also corroborated by setlist.fm’s ceremony setlist. The AP described the ceremony as a five-hour-plus show.
Did Ozzy sing at the tribute?
No. Ozzy was present, seated onstage in a throne, while the guest singers took the vocal leads. ABC reported that he shouted “All aboard!” to introduce “Crazy Train”; he did not perform the tribute songs. The set was a tribute to his music, not a live duet with him.

Why was Ozzy inducted again?
The 2024 honor recognized Ozzy as a solo artist. He had already entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 as a member of Black Sabbath, making the solo induction his second Hall induction overall, according to the Associated Press account.
Who played in the backing band?
Louder reported that the tribute backing musicians included Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, Andrew Watt, Adam Wakeman, Steve Stevens, Wolfgang Van Halen and Zakk Wylde. ABC specifically notes that Zakk Wylde joined Jelly Roll and the backing musicians for “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” and that Billy Idol joined them for “No More Tears.” The available reporting does not establish this as a complete lineup for every song.
