How old was Eilish when she won her second Oscar?
Guinness World Records records Eilish’s age as 22 years and 83 days when “What Was I Made For?” won on 10 March 2024. It identifies her as the youngest person to win two Academy Awards. That is an age-at-second-win record, not a claim that she won both awards at the same ceremony.
#1 Best Overall
- Billie Eilish's third studio album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, released via Darkroom/Interscope Records is her most daring body of work to date, a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs - ideally listened to in its entirety from beginning to end - does exactly as the album title suggests; hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way
Who held the record before her?
Guinness names Luise Rainer and Jodie Foster as the previous youngest two-time Academy Award winners. The Associated Press reported that Rainer was 28 when she won her second Best Actress Oscar in 1938. The comparison is about the winners’ ages when they earned their second Oscars; Eilish and Finneas’s two awards were both for Best Original Song, while Rainer’s were acting awards.

- 27 March 2022: Eilish and Finneas won Best Original Song at the 94th Academy Awards for “No Time to Die,” the title song from the James Bond film.
- 10 March 2024: At the 96th Academy Awards, they won the same category for “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie. This second win made Eilish, aged 22 years and 83 days according to Guinness, the youngest two-time Oscar winner.
Guinness also notes that Eilish’s first win made her the first Oscar winner born in the 21st century. The record discussed here was set in March 2024; Guinness cautions that records can change and its online entries may not update immediately, so a present-tense claim about the current holder should be checked against the latest record listing.
