What happened to Big John Fisher in Australia?
PerthNow and Sky News reported that Fisher arrived in Perth on 14 October 2025 for planned appearances, including events in Perth and Sydney. Fisher said he had been questioned by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers for about four hours before being placed in a holding hotel. The reports described him as expecting to leave Australia on 15 October, his birthday. PerthNow’s account said the planned events would not go ahead with Fisher present.
The reported Perth itinerary included a fan meeting at Molly’s Irish Pub, a DJ set at Ascot Racecourse and an appearance at Hillarys Beach Club. These were scheduled appearances, not evidence that the events took place.
Why was Fisher reportedly detained?
The outlets attributed the concern to a mismatch between his planned activities and the visa he was reportedly using. PerthNow said officials considered him to be visiting on a tourist visa that did not allow the work he planned to do. The Independent reported that authorities said a tourist visa did not permit paid work or promotional appearances. Neither outlet published an individual visa decision or the text of Fisher’s visa conditions.

Fisher disputed the implication that he had knowingly entered on an invalid visa. PerthNow quoted him saying, “My visa was legal coming in, but they’re not happy with what I’m doing here, so they’re sending me home.” It also reported him saying “Well, no one told me!” while recounting an official’s explanation that the visa did not allow other people to profit from his work. These are Fisher’s reported remarks, not an official finding about his visa.
What did Australian officials confirm?
They did not publicly confirm the particulars of Fisher’s case in the cited reports. PerthNow said ABF declined to comment because of privacy obligations; Sky News reported the agency’s position as not commenting on individual passengers. The Independent’s account of the visa explanation was also contemporaneous reporting, not a published ruling or case record.
For general visa and immigration information, Australia’s Department of Home Affairs is the official source. The Australian High Commission in the UK directs visa enquiries to Home Affairs. Those general resources do not provide a public case update for Fisher or establish which visa he held.
Was Big John Fisher deported from Australia?
The reports published on 15 October 2025 said Fisher expected to fly to the UK that day. Sky News gave his expected departure time as 6:30pm local time. An expected flight is not confirmation that he boarded it or that a formal removal was completed. The cited reports do not establish the subsequent outcome, whether he later returned to Australia, or whether any re-entry restriction applied.

How to read the reports
The coverage supports a limited account: Fisher said he was questioned for several hours and expected to be sent home; outlets attributed the dispute to planned paid or promotional appearances while he was reportedly on a tourist visa; and the scheduled appearances were reported cancelled. Because no individual decision or later travel outcome is documented in those reports, claims about his formal removal or current status go beyond what they establish.
