Beyoncé arrived with Kelly Rowland, her former Destiny’s Child bandmate. The two spoke to the crowd before Harris took the stage. Did Beyoncé perform?
No. Beyoncé spoke and introduced Harris, but did not give a live musical performance. The Houston Chronicle’s event report explicitly distinguishes her remarks from a performance. Houston Chronicle event report
That distinction matters because Harris’s campaign had used Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” as walk-on music. The Washington Post reported before the rally that Beyoncé had given permission for the campaign to use the song; the campaign’s use of recorded music was separate from a live performance at the event. Was Beyoncé paid $10 million to appear?
No evidence supports the circulating claim that Beyoncé received $10 million for the appearance. PolitiFact reported that it found no credible reporting or evidence for the figure. The singer’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, called the claim “beyond ridiculous”; the Harris campaign had not responded to PolitiFact when its report was published. The available reporting does not establish a payment amount or rule out every possible private arrangement. PolitiFact’s review, updated November 11, 2024

Texas’s abortion ban and its effects on medical care were central themes of the Houston event. Beyoncé’s remarks connected the political debate to freedom and the ability to make decisions about one’s body, while Harris’s appearance made reproductive rights a prominent part of the campaign’s appeal to Texans and voters elsewhere.

The rally’s occurrence and speakers are documented; the available coverage does not establish that Beyoncé’s appearance changed voter behavior or affected the election outcome.
