What “billionaire musician” means in this report
The fifth-place milestone is a Forbes-reported net-worth estimate, not a ranking assembled from a common public accounting of the musicians’ assets. Forbes named Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Bruce Springsteen as the four musicians who had reached the status before Beyoncé. The Guardian also reported the milestone on December 30, 2025.
Forbes’s live profile showed Beyoncé’s estimated net worth at $1 billion on October 4, 2026. Because the profile is time-sensitive, the amount should be read as an estimate displayed on that date—not a fixed value or a figure Beyoncé publicly certified. Forbes’s reporting does not provide an itemized balance sheet or a calculation that readers can independently reproduce.
How Beyoncé built the fortune, according to Forbes
Music rights and touring drive most of the estimate
Forbes attributes most of Beyoncé’s wealth to music, including rights to her catalog, and global touring. Its December 2025 report put the Renaissance World Tour’s gross at nearly $600 million. It reported that the 2025 Cowboy Carter Tour generated more than $400 million in ticket sales, citing Pollstar, and estimated another $50 million in merchandise sales. These are tour and merchandise figures, not amounts that can be added directly to personal net worth.

Forbes also estimated Beyoncé’s 2025 pretax earnings at $148 million from touring, catalog income and sponsorship deals. That is an annual earnings estimate, distinct from net worth: it describes income over a period, not the value of all assets minus liabilities.
Parkwood keeps more of the business in-house
Beyoncé founded Parkwood Entertainment in 2010. Forbes says the company manages much of her career and produces music, documentaries and concerts. By bringing management and production in-house, and fronting much of the production cost, Parkwood can capture more of the back-end economics when projects succeed.

In a 2013 interview quoted by Forbes, Beyoncé said she chose self-management rather than taking her career to a large management company. She described wanting to build her own enterprise and show women they could retain control and share less of their success with outside companies. Forbes’s article also quoted her saying, “No amount of money is worth my peace,” in a written interview about maintaining boundaries and protecting her family.
Other ventures are part of the picture, but not the main explanation
Forbes also names Cécred, a hair-care brand, and SirDavis, a whiskey label, among Beyoncé’s ventures. It says Ivy Park, her clothing line, was discontinued in 2024. The report nevertheless identifies music and touring—not these businesses—as the principal sources of her personal wealth.

Keep the figures in their proper categories

These measures describe different things: a net-worth estimate, annual pretax earnings, ticket revenue and merchandise sales. Tour revenue is not the same as the artist’s take-home income; production costs and other business economics matter. Forbes’s report does not offer enough detail to convert these figures into a reproducible calculation of Beyoncé’s net worth.
Why the milestone matters beyond one estimate
The milestone reflects the scale of a business built around music ownership, live performance and control over production. Forbes highlighted Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performance, which drew 458,000 concurrent live viewers on YouTube, as career context. That audience figure helps illustrate her reach, but it is not evidence of a particular net worth.

Forbes summed up the earning power of stadium-level music careers this way: “Across any category of the entertainment industry, there is practically no enterprise more lucrative than a musician who can sell out stadiums.” Its point is that enormous audiences can support several connected revenue streams; it does not make tour grosses interchangeable with an artist’s personal fortune.
