Is Oblivion Remastered a remake or a remaster?

Bethesda describes it as a remaster made with Virtuos. The original Creation Engine game remains beneath the refreshed presentation and gameplay logic, while Unreal Engine 5 is used for the visual treatment. That means the project updates how the game looks and plays without presenting itself as a wholly new game built from scratch.

Visual and interface updates

Bethesda says environments and character models were remade, with improved lip sync, lighting and atmospheric effects. Xbox Wire also describes reworked menus and maps, accessibility updates and additional autosaves. These are publisher descriptions, not independent performance measurements. The publisher lists sprinting, reworked movement, rebuilt combat animations and an updated third-person view.
