There is no official all-time ranking of Saturday Night Live commercial parodies, but eight sketches make a strong starting list: Happy Fun Ball, Colon Blow, Mom Jeans, Taco Town, Love Toilet, Oops I Crapped My Pants, Bassomatic and Little Chocolate Donuts. They appear together on the 2006 DVD Saturday Night Live: The Best of Commercial Parodies, a Will Ferrell-hosted, 83-minute collection. The selections below are an editorial shortlist, not a definitive ranking.
How to judge an SNL fake commercial
A memorable parody quickly establishes what it is selling, convincingly imitates a recognizable advertising style, and exposes a target or social behavior that viewers can still recognize beneath the absurdity. The punchline should also make sense without requiring the viewer to know the sketch’s original context.
A 2025 essay in The Atlantic uses SNL’s Forever 31, a parody of Forever 21, to illustrate a useful critical idea: the sharpest fake ads preserve a trace of truth even when their premise becomes ridiculous. That is a way to think about the sketches, not an objective scoring system. Read the essay in The Atlantic.
Eight SNL commercial parodies to start with
These titles are included in the contents of the 2006 Saturday Night Live: The Best of Commercial Parodies DVD. The collection offers a practical way to find a group of established examples, but it does not establish that these are the only notable parodies or rank them by quality. WorldCat’s catalogue record lists the DVD and its contents.

Where to watch SNL commercial parodies
Official YouTube compilations
SNL’s official YouTube channel has themed collections that can help with discovery. Its household compilation names Starbucks Verismo and Roach-Ex; its food compilation names Brownie Husband and Almost Pizza. These are examples featured in the channel’s collections, not a complete catalog or a definitive best-of list.
The dedicated DVD collection
The 2006 DVD Saturday Night Live: The Best of Commercial Parodies is the most directly focused physical collection identified here. Its catalogue record gives a running time of 83 minutes and credits Universal Pictures; it is hosted by Will Ferrell. Netflix describes the same title as a Ferrell-narrated collection and lists Bassomatic, Colon Blow and Love Toilet, but says it is currently unavailable in the visitor’s country. Streaming availability can vary by territory and date.
A broader early-SNL option
Universal Pictures At Home lists Saturday Night Live: 50th Anniversary Collection: Seasons One–Five on DVD. It is a broader early-years collection, not a dedicated commercial-parody compilation. See Universal Pictures At Home’s collection page.

Other parody titles in the episode listings
Peacock’s season 14 episode listings include Big Red, Metrocard, Gary Busey Motorcycle Helmets and Sleepytime Rat Control. The listings help identify titles from that season, but a listing alone does not establish a sketch’s quality or provide all the context needed to place it on a best-of list. The DVD contents and official themed playlists offer useful starting points, but neither is a comprehensive, objective ranking of every SNL fake commercial. No stable, dated measure of audience popularity or response is established here; platform engagement figures change over time. Use the shortlist to choose what to watch, and treat individual clips or episode records as the better source for specific dates and context.
