What “best doujinshi on MyAnimeList” means
Here, “best” means a useful place to start in MyAnimeList’s Doujin ranking—not an objective verdict on artistic quality. Third-party documentation of MAL ranking types identifies Doujin, or Top Doujinshi, as a distinct category, separate from manga, novels, one-shots, manhwa, and manhua. This documents the category’s existence, but it does not establish today’s ranking or the details of individual entries.
A list published by OtakuSmart on March 26, 2022, titled “Top 50 Doujinshi’s Ranked According to MyAnimeList,” is a dated reference rather than a current ranking. Rankings can change, and that article cannot show where a title sits now.

The 2022 OtakuSmart list names the following works. Treat them as search leads only: the available evidence does not verify their current MAL entries, classifications, scores, rating counts, tags, availability, or content suitability.

How to choose from the live Doujin ranking
- Open MyAnimeList’s live manga rankings. Select the Doujin or Top Doujinshi category if it is available. The category is documented by third-party references, but its current display and ordering should be checked on MAL itself.
- Open each candidate’s MAL item page. Confirm that the entry is classified as doujinshi and note its current score and number of ratings. A score without its rating count gives an incomplete picture of how many users contributed to it.
- Read the tags and entry details. Check genres, format, publication or completion status, and whether MAL identifies the work as original or fan-made. These details can help distinguish titles that a ranking alone cannot meaningfully compare.
- Check content suitability before reading. Review the item-page tags and description, and use any available content warnings to decide whether the work suits you. Do not assume a high ranking means a title is suitable for all ages.
- Record when you checked. Rankings and scores can change. If you are sharing a recommendation, include the date you viewed the entry and its score and rating count rather than presenting them as fixed values.
Why a ranking is only a starting point
A ranking can help surface candidates, but it cannot tell you on its own whether a work matches your interests or content boundaries. Scores also need context: compare them alongside rating counts and the entry’s tags and details, not as a definitive measure of quality. The cited 2022 list is not evidence of current order, and no current item-level figures are established here.
