André the Giant ranks first for the way his size, star power and defining WWE moments made him the standard against which later giants were measured. This is an editorial ranking, not an official WWE category: it weighs historical impact, longevity, major accomplishments, character presentation and how distinctly each wrestler used his size—not billed measurements alone.
How this ranking weighs greatness
“Big men” here means wrestlers whose size, power or giant presentation materially shaped their WWE characters and matches. There is no fixed height or weight cutoff, and billed statistics are not a reliable measure of wrestling greatness by themselves. The order below balances five factors: historical and cultural impact, longevity, championship and marquee-event accomplishments, style relative to size, and character presentation. The sources establish selected milestones, not a comparable measure of match quality, so close placements are open to reasonable disagreement.
The best big men in WWE history
-
André the Giant
André is the defining historical attraction in this group. WWE’s profile describes him as a major draw in the 1970s and 1980s, and his rivalry with Hulk Hogan culminated in their WrestleMania III match, where André lost. WWE also recounts his later WWE Championship win and surrender, and identifies him as a 1993 Hall of Fame inductee. Those moments give his legacy a rare combination of spectacle, championship history and cultural reach.
WWE lists André at 7 feet 4 inches and 520 pounds; these are billed profile statistics, not independently verified measurements. WWE says his undefeated stretch lasted “nearly 15 years,” not his entire career. (WWE profile of André the Giant)

The Undertaker
The Undertaker’s case rests on extraordinary longevity, a distinctive character and a record of high-profile accomplishments. WWE’s biography lists major singles and tag championships, his 2007 Royal Rumble victory and a remarkable WrestleMania record. The streak reached 21–0 before Brock Lesnar ended it at WrestleMania 30; WWE’s profile gives his final WrestleMania record as 24–2. The distinction matters: the streak was historic, but it was not his complete record.
He places just behind André because his case is strongest in sustained character and marquee-event achievement, while André’s historical significance as a giant attraction is the ranking’s top standard. (WWE profile of The Undertaker)
-
Kane
Kane turned a giant presentation into a long-running character with a substantial championship résumé. WWE’s profile lists WWE, World Heavyweight and ECW championships, along with tag-team title success, and records his 2021 Hall of Fame induction. His breadth across singles and tag competition makes him a stronger all-around choice than a ranking based only on size or a brief dominant run.

Big Show
Big Show belongs in the top tier of WWE’s big-man conversation because of his mainstream presence and championship breadth. He is a natural contender for a higher position, particularly for readers who prioritize a long career across different eras. This placement is more cautious because the source material available for this ranking does not include a direct official profile to substantiate specific career counts or distinctions.
-
Yokozuna
Yokozuna’s WWE case is built on a concentrated championship peak and a commanding super-heavyweight presentation. WWE records his 1993 Royal Rumble win, his WWE Championship victory at WrestleMania IX, his same-night loss to Hulk Hogan and a later championship win back. That sequence makes him one of the division’s most memorable champions, even though his placement below Big Show reflects a different balance of peak impact and sustained career presence.

WWE lists Yokozuna at 6 feet 4 inches and 589 pounds. These are billed profile statistics, not independently verified measurements. The character’s name and presentation should not be taken as proof that he competed professionally in Japanese sumo. (WWE profile of Yokozuna)
-
Mark Henry
Mark Henry stands out because his WWE identity drew directly on a real strength-sport background. WWE describes him as a champion in powerlifting, strongman and wrestling. Its Hall of Fame profile records his 2011 World Heavyweight Championship win over Randy Orton and his 2018 induction. That combination of genuine strength credentials and a major WWE title gives Henry a distinct place among giants, even if his historical footprint is narrower than those ranked above him.

Vader
Vader brought an internationally established heavyweight reputation into WWE and made a meaningful impact there, including a WrestleMania title challenge and a Royal Rumble victory over The Undertaker. WWE records his posthumous 2022 Hall of Fame induction. His place here reflects a notable WWE run and a forceful heavyweight style, while the ranking gives more weight to the longer WWE legacies and defining moments of those above him.

-
Bam Bam Bigelow
Bigelow’s distinction was mobility: he could perform aerial offense that challenged expectations for a wrestler of his size. WWE’s profile calls him “a rare breed of talent – a big man who could move like a lightweight” and highlights his moonsaults and diving headbutts. The profile lists him at 390 pounds; that is a WWE figure, not an independent measurement. His WrestleMania XI main event against NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor is another enduring place in WWE history, even though Bigelow lost.
WWE’s description is evidence of how the company presented his style, rather than an independent evaluation of his matches. (WWE profile of Bam Bam Bigelow)
-
Giant Gonzales
Giant Gonzales earns a place as an extraordinary attraction, not as an all-around career equal to the wrestlers above him. WWE calls him its tallest Superstar and recounts his WrestleMania IX match with The Undertaker. His giant presentation made him instantly distinct, but his limited WWE run leaves less evidence of sustained impact, championship success or range than the rest of this list.

Why reasonable rankings may differ
The biggest disagreement is likely to be about what counts most. Put longevity and character consistency first, and The Undertaker or Kane could challenge André for the top spot. Emphasize title peaks and marquee victories, and Yokozuna or Mark Henry may move upward. Value athletic distinction relative to size, and Bam Bam Bigelow has an unusually strong case. Big Show is also a credible top-five choice, especially for readers weighing career breadth heavily.
There is no objective dataset that settles these comparisons across eras, and WWE profiles are primary sources for WWE’s account of its performers—not neutral, independently verified assessments. The ranking is therefore a reasoned judgment about impact and distinctiveness, not a scientific result.
