Studio Eclypse’s Berserk: The Black Swordsman was a fan-made project, not an official Berserk anime. The trailer date reported at the time was May 15, 2024, and the project’s planned Otakufest Saltillo presentation was May 18–19, 2024; both dates have passed. In September 2024, Hakusensha said the Berserk rights holder had not authorized the project and that its videos used Berserk without permission, according to reporting on the publisher’s statement.
When was the Berserk: The Black Swordsman trailer due?
Coverage reported that Studio Eclypse planned to release a trailer on May 15, 2024. It also reported a live presentation at Otakufest Saltillo for May 18–19, 2024. These are historical announcement details, not upcoming dates. Zócalo’s report on the Saltillo presentation

What was the new Guts image?
The newly reported image was a key visual titled “Day of the Eclypse,” promoting Studio Eclypse’s fan project. It should not be treated as official Berserk franchise artwork. Anime Senpai’s coverage of the key visual
Was Berserk: The Black Swordsman official?
No. Studio Eclypse made it as a fan project; it was separate from the official Berserk anime. In September 2024, Hakusensha stated that the rights holder had not authorized the project and that its videos used Berserk without permission, as summarized in Los 40’s report. That is the scope of the reported publisher position; it is not a substitute for a broader legal analysis.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The May 2024 coverage described a planned trailer date, an Otakufest Saltillo presentation and a Guts key visual. Those reports establish what was announced at the time; they do not make the project an official adaptation. The later Hakusensha statement is the key distinction for readers encountering the announcement today.
