Bella Hadid’s September 11, 2024, New York outfit paired a caramel leather lace-up corset and a denim midi skirt with brown embroidered cowboy boots. The Western details—and Hadid’s documented equestrian life—make “horse girl-coded” an apt fashion description, not a claim that the clothes were riding gear.
The September 11 look: corsetry, denim and Western boots
Harper’s Bazaar reported that Hadid wore the outfit for a New York night out: brown embroidered cowboy boots by M.L. Leddy’s, a caramel leather lace-up corset, and a denim midi skirt finished with cheetah-print trim and patchwork pockets. Silver bracelets with turquoise inlays added another Western-inflected detail. Harper’s Bazaar’s September 12, 2024, report identifies the pieces.
The boots provide the clearest cowboy signal. The fitted corset and patterned, pocketed denim skirt make that reference feel dressed up rather than like a practical riding uniform. “Horse girl-coded” captures the outfit’s mix of equestrian associations and cowgirl styling; it is an editorial reading of the look, not a formal fashion category.
Why the horse-girl description has context
Hadid’s equestrian activity gives the styling a real-world connection. On September 12, the day after the New York night-out look, she joined horseman Adan Banuelos for a cutting demonstration in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Teen Vogue reported that the Teton Ridge event promoted Windows to the West: Horse Sense. For that separate appearance, Hadid wore jeans, riding chaps, boots and a black silk button-up. Those two appearances should not be merged: the corset-and-denim outfit was street style, while the next day’s look accompanied a live cutting demonstration. Harper’s Bazaar also frames Hadid’s turn toward cowgirl dressing as connected to time in Texas and her relationship with Banuelos; that is the publication’s explanation, not independently established motivation.
The boots: exact pair versus similar options
For the September 11 outfit, Harper’s Bazaar names the brown embroidered boots as M.L. Leddy’s. Its article also points to Sam Edelman’s James pointed-toe Western boot at Amazon as a similar style. That is a look-alike suggestion, not the exact pair Hadid wore; listings and availability can change.

Vintage designer boots are another route to a Western look, but a separate Hadid appearance is easy to confuse with this one. Vogue reported that she wore early-2000s brown leather John Galliano-era Christian Dior cowboy boots to a Texas horse-breeding event. The article describes AMO Vintage as a source for archival Western pieces through Hadid’s stylist and notes that the business offers rentals. Those Dior boots are not the M.L. For a buyer, the practical distinction is simple: a new, similar Western-style boot is not the exact reported item, and a vintage designer boot is a separate, archival option. The cited coverage does not establish that either fashion boot is suitable for riding.

What the outfit does—and does not—say
The title’s “horse girl-coded” phrase works because the outfit combines recognizable Western styling with the context of Hadid’s equestrian activity. It does not mean the corset, denim skirt or fashion boots were designed for horseback riding. The exact brands of the corset and skirt are not established in Harper’s Bazaar’s outfit report, so they should not be attributed to a particular label.
