That look was worn months earlier at the Cannes Film Festival. The mix-up also overlaps with a separate Saint Laurent collection known for sheer garments.

The sheer brown Saint Laurent halter dress associated with the “freed the nipple” wording was worn by Hadid at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024, for the premiere of The Apprentice. It was a red-carpet appearance, not her September Paris runway outfit.

Why Saint Laurent’s sheer runway clothes add to the confusion
Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, presented in Paris on February 28, was a separate runway show from the Spring/Summer 2025 show Hadid walked in September. Coverage of the February collection described translucent blouses, fitted T-shirts and sleeveless tops. The Guardian connected the sheer styling to the “Free the nipple” campaign, while Vogue Runway noted sheer looks and a Marilyn Monroe reference in the show notes.
