What Bec Judd announced
In a video posted to Instagram on 3 September 2024, Judd said she was one of Crown Melbourne’s new ambassadors for the Melbourne Cup Carnival. PerthNow reported that her role covered Oaks Day and Makybe Diva Stakes Day, and quoted her post: “I’m so excited for the Melbourne Cup Carnival with @crownmelbourne and also thrilled to be one of their new ambassadors,” PerthNow reported on 3 September 2024.
PerthNow also quoted a statement Judd gave to the Herald Sun: “The Melbourne Cup Carnival is the highlight of the social calendar every Spring, and I can’t wait to attend this year’s event with Crown.” The quotation is relayed by PerthNow; it is not a direct citation to the original Herald Sun statement.
How the ambassador role related to Crown’s partnership
On 3 September 2024, the Victoria Racing Club announced that Crown Melbourne had become naming-rights partner for Oaks Day and Makybe Diva Stakes Day. The races were branded Crown Oaks Day and Crown Makybe Diva Stakes Day, including their Group 1 races. The VRC also described Crown’s Birdcage marquee across all four Carnival days and an existing hospitality relationship with the club. The VRC announcement frames the sponsorship; it does not establish that Judd’s ambassador appointment extended beyond the events PerthNow named.

VRC Chairman Neil Wilson said the partnership reflected a shared commitment to experiences for patrons and to Australian racing, entertainment and hospitality. Crown Melbourne CEO Mike Volkert said the company was proud to align with the events and looked forward to rejoining the Birdcage that year. These were statements in the VRC’s 3 September announcement.
The VRC cited more than 34,000 members in that announcement while describing its partnership portfolio and race-day experience. That figure referred to VRC membership, not attendance at the Carnival or either race day.

What Judd wore in the Instagram footage
PerthNow described Judd wearing a pink dress by Eliya The Label and a matching hat by Stephanie Spencer. The report presents these as details of her outfit, not as an endorsement of a particular hat or a verified product recommendation. For a similar broad race-day look, a fascinator or statement hat is a style category; no exact model or current listing for Judd’s hat is established by the report.

PerthNow reported that the Carnival was due to begin on 5 November 2024. The VRC later identified Crown Oaks Day as 7 November and said the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival concluded on 9 November. Those are dates for the completed 2024 event, not a schedule for a future Carnival. The VRC’s Carnival recap records the historical event dates.
