The project’s 2024–25 dates are past; for the announced fall 2026 North American run, Terry Bozzio replaces Carey behind the kit.
What is BEAT?
BEAT is a touring project led by King Crimson alumni Adrian Belew and Tony Levin, joined in its original lineup by Steve Vai and Danny Carey. It is not King Crimson itself: the project presents a reinterpretation of material from three of the band’s 1980s albums. Dominion Energy Center announced the project on April 2, 2024, describing it as “a creative reinterpretation of the three iconic 80s KING CRIMSON albums – Discipline, Beat, and Three Of A Perfect Pair.” Read the announcement.

Who is touring with Steve Vai and Danny Carey?
The original announced BEAT lineup paired Belew and Levin with Vai and Carey. Vai’s official tour archive lists dates in 2024 and 2025; those listings document the earlier run, not current ticket availability. Check Vai’s tour archive for official listings.
The announced 2026 lineup is different
Steve Vai’s official update says BEAT will return for a North American run in fall 2026, described as the project’s last North American tour performing King Crimson music. Terry Bozzio will play drums because Carey is unavailable owing to Tool commitments. Thus, Danny Carey was part of the original announced lineup, but is not named as the drummer for the announced 2026 run. See Vai’s 2026 announcement.
