“Bajka o Kropce” does not point unambiguously to one work. The phrase appears on a user-uploaded copy of a story about a lonely black dot, in the title of a grades 4–5 number-line activity, and alongside references to other dot-themed books. If you are looking for the black-dot story, its plot can be summarized, but the available copy does not establish an authorized edition or confirm its displayed author attribution.
What is the story in the user-uploaded copy?
The copy displayed on Scribd attributes the story to Karolina Michalska. In its plot, a small black dot feels unattractive, incapable, and unwanted. A wizard tells her to go out into the world and look carefully. She notices black dots on a butterfly’s wings and becomes one of them; later, she becomes a dot on a frog’s back. Through these encounters, she realizes she can belong to the world around her and feel important. Read the Scribd copy.
This is a summary of the uploaded copy, not a verified account of a canonical or authorized text. The displayed attribution to Karolina Michalska has not been confirmed by an authoritative publisher or catalog, so it should not be treated as settled authorship.
Why search results may show different works
| Result | What it is | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| “Bajka o Kropce” story copy | A user-uploaded story about a black dot finding belonging; author attribution is displayed but unverified (Scribd listing: source). | The central character is a dot, not a named child. |
| “OŚ LICZBOWA – Bajka o Kropce” | A three-page PDF activity listed for grades 4 and 5, with story text, number lines, and comprehension questions. The listing showed 5 PLN when indexed; price and availability can change (ZlotyNauczyciel.pl: listing). | A classroom mathematics resource, not proof that its story is the same as the uploaded black-dot tale. |
| The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds | A distinct published children’s book about Vashti and a dot that helps her believe in herself (school library description: source). | Its protagonist is Vashti; it is not the black-dot story. |
| “Bajeczka o kropce nad i” by Witold Zechenter | A separately titled work identified in a catalog contents page and a 2009 blog; it is associated with Antologia bajki polskiej (catalog: contents; blog: post). | The title includes “nad i”; it is not evidence about the black-dot story. |
Which one are you looking for?
For a short story about a black dot
The Scribd upload is the result that matches the described plot of a dot who initially feels unwanted and then finds a place among things in nature. Because it is a user-uploaded copy and its attribution is unverified, the listing alone cannot establish publication history or authorization.

For a classroom activity on number lines
The ZlotyNauczyciel.pl listing describes a three-page resource for grades 4–5 that combines story text with number lines and questions. Treat it as a separate educational product: the listing does not confirm that its story is the Scribd black-dot tale.
For a published book and Dot Day activity
The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds is the relevant distinct book if you mean Vashti’s story. A 2019 preschool lesson plan uses it for a Dot Day activity involving colored dots and art-making; that classroom use does not make it the same work as “Bajka o Kropce.” See the 2019 lesson plan.

Keep similarly titled works separate
Witold Zechenter’s “Bajeczka o kropce nad i” is a distinct title. A catalog contents page and a 2009 blog identify it in Antologia bajki polskiej; those references do not identify the black-dot story. Check the catalog contents page.
