Bad Thoughts is a six-episode dark-comedy series built around Tom Segura narrating short, cinematic vignettes that push toward raunch, shock and bad taste. Whether that makes it worth watching depends less on a continuous story than on whether you enjoy comic ideas escalating into deliberately uncomfortable territory. Netflix currently lists two seasons; the first premiered on 13 May 2025 in the UK.
What is Bad Thoughts about?
Netflix describes the show as a collection of disturbing stories and says Segura navigates “unthinkable situations and fantasies within a cinematic world.” That is promotional language, but it captures the format: this is not a conventional plot-driven series. Segura serves as narrator and guide through a run of comic scenarios, with episodes made up largely of separate vignettes.
The first-season premises suggest the range of the material: an airport ordeal, a comedian’s merchandise idea, trouble at a fertility clinic and a rideshare date. Those setups leave room for the escalation to do the work; the appeal is watching an ordinary or awkward situation take a sharply indecent turn, not following a single story arc.
How many episodes and seasons are there?
Netflix announced the project as a six-episode series, and Variety reported in June 2025 that Netflix had renewed it for a second season of six episodes. Netflix’s current title page displays two seasons. The first season’s UK release date was 13 May 2025, according to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

Does the format work?
The vignette structure suits comedy that depends on fast reversals and escalating discomfort: each premise can establish its own world without requiring the viewer to remember a complicated plot. It also makes the season uneven by design. A sketch either finds a comic angle and builds on it or runs out of room before the idea has fully developed.

Tom’s Guide’s 2025 year-end assessment offers one useful, but decidedly individual, perspective: its reviewer described the first season as mostly disconnected vignettes, with some episode-end carryover, and said the show found more of a groove around Episodes 4 and 5. The same writer still ranked it among the year’s worst shows. That is one critic’s response, not a measured consensus; it does, however, point to a plausible pacing issue for viewers who want every sketch to land consistently.
For this kind of material, the key question is whether the escalation serves a comic idea or is the whole joke. The official descriptions promise boundary-pushing scenarios, not subtle character drama. Segura’s narration and the cinematic framing give the anthology a recognizable shape, but they cannot make every premise equally sharp. If shock and gross-out humor are entertaining to you when they build toward a punchline, the format has a clear rationale. If you need a strong through-line or prefer comedy that keeps its edge in the background, the short, disconnected pieces may feel more crude than clever.

How raunchy or disturbing is it?
“Unapologetically depraved” is a fair shorthand for the show’s intended comic register, but it is not a neutral content classification. Netflix’s own synopsis calls the stories hilariously disturbing and says they push the boundaries of decency. The BBFC’s UK records list injury detail, crude humour and violence for Season 1; its Season 2 episode entries, classified in May 2026, list injury detail and violence. Those are UK classification descriptors, not age guidance for every country.

It is a reasonable pick if you want short-form, deliberately offensive comedy and are comfortable with sketches that vary in effectiveness. The anthology setup offers a succession of self-contained situations rather than a story that steadily deepens, and the available critical response suggests the season may take time to find its rhythm. Viewers looking for tightly connected storytelling, restrained humor or dependable laughs in every segment should probably look elsewhere.
