Apple describes Bad Sisters as a dark comedy and thriller. Season 2 picks up two years after the “accidental death” of Grace’s abusive husband, John Paul. As past truths resurface and suspicion grows, the Garvey sisters have to work out whom they can trust. The official synopsis keeps the central mystery broad rather than spelling out the season’s turns.

For creator and star Sharon Horgan, the continuation was about exploring what happens after abuse. In a December 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she described the question behind the story: “My original idea was what if it happened again? Would she be believed? What would her sisters’ reaction be? Could she go to them?”
When did Bad Sisters Season 2 come out?
The season premiered globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, with its first two episodes. The remaining episodes followed weekly on Wednesdays. Apple’s August 19, 2024 announcement said the weekly run would continue through December 25.

Apple’s finale dates are not consistent across its announcements and listings. Its November 12 premiere announcement said the finale would debut Monday, December 23, at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET. Apple’s Episodes & Images listing labels “Cliff Hanger” as Season 2, Episode 8 and gives December 25, 2024; the U.S. finale page displays December 24. Treat November 13 as the clear premiere date; the finale’s displayed date depends on which official Apple announcement or listing you consult.
How many episodes are in Season 2?
Season 2 has eight episodes. Apple’s U.S. listing identifies “Cliff Hanger” as Episode 8 and gives it a runtime of 52 minutes. Apple’s August announcement and later episode listing differ on the finale date, but both describe an eight-episode season.

Apple TV is the viewing service identified on the show’s official series page. The U.S. finale listing classifies “Cliff Hanger” as TV-MA. Access, subscription terms and availability can vary by location and change over time, so check the current Apple TV listing for your region.

Who is in the Bad Sisters Season 2 cast?
The five Garvey sisters are played by the returning lead cast:
- Eva — Sharon Horgan
- Grace — Anne-Marie Duff
- Ursula — Eva Birthistle
- Bibi — Sarah Greene
- Becka — Eve Hewson
The Season 2 cast also includes Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward and Peter Claffey, among other returning and new performers. Horgan created the series and is an executive producer as well as Eva’s actor.

What happens at the end of Season 2?
Spoilers for the Season 2 finale: Grace dies in a car crash after fleeing home in distress. As her sisters try to understand what happened, they increasingly suspect Angelica, Roger’s sister. Detective Una Houlihan also asks questions about John Paul’s earlier death.
The finale reveals that “Ian” is Cormac, a disgraced former police officer who deceived Grace and Eva and diverted money meant for Grace’s daughter, Blánaid. During a confrontation, Angelica hits him with Blánaid’s camogie stick. The sisters initially believe he is dead; when they discover he survived, Houlihan helps silence him and protect them. The closing image shows the sisters setting Grace’s ashes adrift.

Why did Sharon Horgan return to the story?
Horgan told the Los Angeles Times that she had not expected to continue after Season 1, but the characters’ response from viewers and Apple’s interest prompted her to consider another story. She said, “I didn’t think I was going to go back for more, but everyone responded to those characters. That’s not always the case and Apple wanted to do more. I thought, if I can think of a story that feels important to tell, then I’ll do it.”
What awards did Bad Sisters receive?
Apple’s 2024 announcement cited recognition for the first season, not Season 2: four Emmy nominations, a BAFTA Television Award for Best Drama Series, a BAFTA Best Supporting Actress win for Anne-Marie Duff, and a Peabody Award. These are awards and nominations reported by Apple, not measures of Season 2 viewership or audience size.
