Bad Bunny supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and shared a Harris campaign video about Puerto Rico on Instagram on October 27, 2024. His post came shortly after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made disparaging remarks about Puerto Rico at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally; the timing is established, but it does not establish Bad Bunny’s private motive.
What Bad Bunny shared
Bad Bunny, the stage name of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, shared a Harris campaign video focused on Puerto Rico. The Associated Press reported that the video said there was “so much at stake in this election for Puerto Rican voters and for Puerto Rico,” and that a representative for the artist confirmed his support for Harris. CBS reported that Bad Bunny also shared a clipped portion of the video in which Harris criticized Trump’s response to Hurricane Maria. In that segment, Harris said: “I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and a competent leader.” CBS covered the endorsement and the Hurricane Maria remarks.
Why the post drew attention
Earlier that evening, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made derogatory comments about Puerto Rico during Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. Bad Bunny’s post followed the remarks, and contemporary coverage connected the events by their timing. That sequence does not show why he chose to share the video.

Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez responded: “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.” The Guardian reported the statement on October 27, 2024. It is Alvarez’s characterization of the joke; the statement alone does not establish what campaign leaders knew or approved. The Guardian’s report details the rally remarks and campaign response.

The Associated Press put Bad Bunny’s Instagram following at about 45 million when it reported the October 27 post. That is a contemporaneous estimate of potential audience size, not a count of people who saw the Story, actual impressions, or evidence that votes changed. The AP report gives the follower figure in its account of the post.
