Net worth, lifetime earnings, and an estate are different measures
Net worth is an estimate of assets minus liabilities at a particular point in time. Lifetime earnings add income across a career; they do not show how much remained after costs, taxes, investments, gifts, or other obligations. An estate valuation can also depend on the valuation date, the assets and rights included, liabilities, and ownership shares.
For that reason, the reported figure of more than $100 million in career earnings cannot be used to validate or replace the net-worth estimate. Nor can the different 2015 estate estimates be reconciled into a definitive total from the public figures alone.

What the probate coverage establishes
The Guardian reported that King’s will put LaVerne Toney in charge of administering his assets, property, and trust. The trust documents had not been filed publicly at the time of that 2015 report, and the estate’s lawyer and Toney declined to estimate the estate’s value. The daughter’s lawyer offered the $5 million-to-$10 million estimate as her own view, not as an official accounting.
Courthouse News Service reported that the estate included intellectual-property rights and royalties. The reporting does not establish their value or the share of those rights King retained at death. The official B.B. King Estate website describes legacy projects, music, merchandise, and partnerships with Universal Music Group and Universal Music Enterprises. That activity does not disclose the rights’ ownership details or establish their revenue.
