There is no documented, universal AWS Elemental MediaLive setting that fixes audio/video delay in a YouTube live stream. First find where the offset begins: in the source, MediaLive’s output, or YouTube playback. Then check the selected audio track and relevant channel configuration. An Indian-language track is not, by itself, an established cause of sync delay.
Locate the stage where the delay starts
Compare the same identifiable event—such as a spoken syllable and the corresponding mouth movement—at three points: the source, MediaLive’s output, and YouTube playback. Note whether audio leads or lags and estimate the offset at each point. This boundary-by-boundary comparison is a practical diagnostic method, not an AWS-prescribed test procedure.
- Already out of sync at the source: The fault is upstream of MediaLive. Correct or retime the source before changing the channel.
- Source is aligned, MediaLive output is not: Inspect the actual input, selectors, output group, destination mode, and encode configuration before changing a setting.
- MediaLive output is aligned, YouTube playback is not: Verify the output capture and investigate the downstream ingest or playback path. The available AWS documentation does not establish a YouTube-specific offset correction.
For the comparison to be useful, use the same event at every boundary and record the measured offset rather than describing it only as “delayed.”
Verify the audio selector and language track
MediaLive audio selectors choose audio sources, including separate tracks. Confirm which selector feeds the output and that it points to the intended language track. If a program carries multiple languages, verify the selected source against the audio actually present in the output. AWS documents selecting audio sources and language tracks, but does not identify Indian languages as a cause of sync delay. AWS Elemental MediaLive: Audio selectors

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Understand what pipeline locking can—and cannot—fix
Pipeline locking concerns alignment between MediaLive’s redundant pipelines. It is not a general control for correcting the program’s audio-to-video offset as viewers hear it. AWS documents two relevant approaches:
- Source-timecode locking: Depends on reliable embedded timecodes.
- Video-alignment locking: Compares visual signatures, does not require embedded timecodes, and requires compatible inputs carrying the same video content on both pipelines. AWS lists HLS, RTMP_PULL, and file inputs as incompatible with video-aligned locking; with those input types, it runs open loop.
When investigating a redundant-pipeline issue, check InputVideoAligned and PipelinesLocked where applicable. These metrics indicate pipeline alignment state; they do not directly measure viewer-perceived audio/video sync. Check the input compatibility and pipeline conditions in AWS Elemental MediaLive: Pipeline locking before interpreting the metrics.

Do not treat timestamps, timecodes, and delay as interchangeable
MediaLive attaches timestamps to output content for downstream synchronization. Timecodes are separate identifiers. Output timecode can be initialized from embedded timecode, UTC, or zero-based time; the optional output-timecode synchronization threshold concerns matching output timecode with input timecode and can create timecode discontinuities. AWS does not document that threshold as a general audio-delay control.
As AWS explains, “MediaLive attaches a timestamp to all output content.” See About timecodes and timestamps and Output timecode for the distinction and configuration context. Do not change a timecode setting as a speculative fix for viewer-facing audio sync.

Collect the details needed for a channel-specific fix
Before changing the channel, write down the configuration and evidence that identify the fault:
- Input type and whether audio and video arrive multiplexed or separately.
- The audio selector and selected language track feeding the output.
- Output group and destination mode.
- Whether audio leads or lags, and the estimated offset.
- Whether the offset is present at the source, MediaLive output, or only on YouTube playback.
- If redundant pipelines are under investigation, the relevant locking state and whether both pipelines receive compatible, identical video.
Without these details, prescribing a specific MediaLive setting would be guesswork. If the offset is isolated to a particular boundary but you cannot identify the responsible configuration, involve an engineer familiar with your MediaLive channel and YouTube ingest path.
