The “20-minute” Avengers: Endgame story referred to a reported South Korean screening—not a verified 20-minute scene leaking online. In a separate report just before the film’s 2019 release, several minutes of blurry footage were said to be circulating online. Those reports do not establish that the screening and the leak were the same material, or authenticate a specific leaked TV spot.
Was there really a mysterious 20-minute scene?
Not according to the available contemporaneous reporting. On April 14, 2019, the Hindustan Times reported that about 20 minutes of footage had been screened in South Korea and that spoilers were spreading online. That supports a screening duration; it does not identify a single 20-minute scene or say that the entire presentation leaked.
The distinction matters: a limited screening is an event, while a scene is a portion of the film and a leak is material shared without authorization. The report does not prove the screening itself was the source of the later online footage.
What footage was reported leaked?
On April 16, 2019, Engadget reported that several minutes of blurry Endgame footage had appeared online, with circulation reported on Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter. The report described several minutes, not a verified 20-minute scene. It does not establish that the circulated footage was a complete scene or that it came from the South Korean screening.

The Russo brothers’ anti-spoiler appeal was also covered at the time by The Guardian. The available account is not a basis for quoting the directors verbatim.
Was the “leaked TV spot” actually a leak?
A TV spot is promotional material, and it should not be treated as leaked film footage simply because viewers speculate about what its images mean. The Super Bowl TV spot was an official promotion reported to contain new footage; ComicBook.com’s February 10, 2019 coverage discussed images in that spot. That is different evidence from the later report of blurry footage circulating online.
Without an authenticated copy and reliable provenance, the phrase “leaked TV spot” cannot identify a specific spot or establish that it was unauthorized. Online theories about a promotional image also do not confirm which character, scene, or plot event it represents.
Why trailers and spots could mislead viewers
Endgame marketing withheld story information. A post-release analysis by Vanity Fair described trailers and spots using altered or unused material that did not appear in the finished film. As a result, a frame in a trailer or TV spot is not proof that a scene appears in the final cut, or that it occurs where viewers expect in the story.
