There is no official Avatar ranking of the franchise’s strongest earthbenders, so any top ten is an editorial judgment—not canon. A defensible list would compare demonstrated earthbending feats, range of techniques, control, and combat effectiveness, while separating raw destructive scale from specialized skills such as metalbending or lavabending. The comparison also depends on whether Avatars qualify: they can bend multiple elements, so their overall power is not a clean measure of earthbending ability.
The available official sources establish Toph’s earthbending, metalbending, and seismic perception, but do not verify a franchise-wide set of ten candidates and their feats. Naming and ordering ten characters without checking those feats against the animated series or official canon publications would risk presenting speculation as fact. For that reason, a reliable ranked list cannot be supported here.
What “strongest earthbender” could mean
Earthbending is one of four fictional bending disciplines, each associated with a nation; the Avatar is distinguished by the ability to master all four. Netflix Tudum’s bending explainer describes the disciplines’ real martial-arts inspirations, and producer Jabbar Raisani characterizes earthbending as “heavy.” That describes its style, not a hierarchy of strength. A useful comparison would consider demonstrated scale, technique breadth, precision, and effectiveness in combat. Those measures can point to different candidates: a character who moves more earth is not automatically more skilled than a metalbender or lavabender, and a specialist’s distinctive technique does not by itself establish superiority in every fight.

Why this cannot responsibly be a ranked top ten
Avatar Studios identifies Toph Beifong as an Earth Kingdom character and lists earthbending, metalbending, and truth-seeing among her skills. Nickelodeon’s profile says she secretly learned earthbending from badger-moles before joining Team Avatar. These are useful facts about her training and abilities, but neither profile ranks her against other benders. Avatar Studios’ Toph profile · Nickelodeon’s Toph profile
The official sources available for this topic do not supply a franchise-wide ranking or verify enough candidates and specific feats to support ten placements. A responsible list would need to check each proposed character’s demonstrations in the animated series or an official canon publication before comparing them. Without that verification, a numbered list would create an impression of evidence the available sources do not provide.

How Avatars change the comparison
If Avatars are included, the article must distinguish their earthbending from their combined elemental abilities. An Avatar’s overall combat strength can draw on mastery of all four elements, so it cannot be treated as an earthbending-only result. A fair ranking would either exclude Avatars and compare earth specialists, or include them only on documented earthbending feats, with that limitation stated for every placement. The franchise’s four-element framework is described in Netflix Tudum’s explainer.

Toph is a clearly documented example of an earthbender with more than conventional earth manipulation: Avatar Studios lists metalbending among her skills, and Nickelodeon says she learned from badger-moles. Those details make her a strong candidate for a comparison of technique and training, but they do not establish whether she ranks first in raw power, combat effectiveness, or the franchise overall.
