Austyns Stancil lost Gwen Stefani’s battle-round decision on The Voice, but Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé all used their steals to keep him in the competition. Stancil then chose Snoop, according to a follow-up report.
What happened in Austyns Stancil’s battle?
In Season 26’s “The Battles, Part 3,” Team Gwen singers Austyns Stancil and Jose Luis performed Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down.” Stefani had to choose one artist to advance from the battle. She picked Luis, citing the range in his voice and her interest in hearing more from him. That decision made Stancil available for a steal. TV Insider’s October 29, 2024 account describes the performance and the coaches’ choices; NBC lists the installment as “The Battles, Part 3.”
Which coaches stole Austyns Stancil?
Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé each pressed their steal button for Stancil. Host Carson Daly reacted, “Make it a triple! Wow! This does not happen every day when all three of the other coaches go in on a steal,” as quoted in TV Insider’s report. It was a striking moment, but no frequency figure is established for how often triple steals happen.
The steals did not reverse Stefani’s choice: Luis was her pick in the battle. The other three coaches’ moves gave Stancil a separate decision about where to continue in the competition.

Which coach did Stancil choose?
Stancil chose Snoop Dogg, according to American Songwriter’s October 29, 2024 follow-up. TV Insider’s report, published while the episode’s outcome remained a cliffhanger, captures the suspense before that choice was reported.
Why was this Stancil’s second multi-coach decision?
Stancil had already faced a coach choice at his blind audition: NBC’s show page lists his September 30, 2024 performance of “Ooo Baby Baby,” which earned a four-chair turn. That earlier audition helps explain why he described himself as “back here again where I’m choosing,” as quoted by TV Insider.

Stefani also praised Stancil for responding to her notes, including adjustments to his facial expressions. The battle ended with her choosing Luis, while the triple steal showed that all three opposing coaches wanted Stancil to remain in the contest.
