According to 7NEWS, an ear, nose and throat specialist examined her, and she received a steroid injection. Reeves described the illness as viral; the details are from her account, not an independently confirmed medical diagnosis.
What happened to Amy Reeves before the finale?
Reeves, a singer from Broome, said she woke on finale Monday barely able to speak. After her sister encouraged her to seek care, she went to Emergency. In an account published by 7NEWS on 4 April 2024, Reeves said an ENT specialist examined her throat using a camera passed through her nose. She described it as “super red, raw and inflamed” and said she had a viral infection. 7NEWS reported that she received a steroid injection and felt better within hours.
Reeves summed up how unwell she had felt: “my body was hanging on by an absolute thread.” She also said, “I was not well.” These remarks were quoted by 7NEWS from her account.
When did the hospital visit happen?
The visit was on Monday, 25 March 2024, the day of the final Australian Idol decision episode. The finale unfolded over two nights: its first part aired Sunday, 24 March, and Reeves said she pushed through that performance while ill. She sought medical care on Monday before the winner was announced. The available account places the visit on finale day but does not give an exact number of hours before the announcement.
