Austin Theory’s career record does not establish that he is having one of the biggest falls from grace in WWE history. He won the 2022 Men’s Money in the Bank match, held the United States Championship twice, defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 39, and later collected tag-team championships. The more defensible question is whether his singles momentum has fallen short of the expectations created by that run—not whether WWE has discarded him.
Why the Money in the Bank win raised expectations
Theory won the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match in 2022, a result that put a potential world-title challenge in his storyline future. WWE’s event archive dates that year’s event to July 2 (WWE Money in the Bank 2022). Winning the briefcase, however, did not guarantee a world-title reign or a sustained main-event run.
WWE’s biography says Theory’s cash-in attempt failed and that he later bounced back by reclaiming the United States Championship. That makes the failed cash-in a setback in his storyline, but not, by itself, proof of a career collapse. The official summary does not provide enough detail to treat it as a complete account of the sequence.
His U.S. title record complicates the “fall” narrative
The official title ledger records two United States Championship reigns. The first ran from April 18 to July 2, 2022, for 74 days; the second ran from November 26, 2022, to August 11, 2023, for 257 days (WWE United States Championship history).

Those dates show that after the failed cash-in, Theory returned to a significant singles championship and held it for more than eight months. A title record cannot tell us on its own how compelling his feuds were, how much audience interest he drew, or whether WWE viewed him as a future world champion. It does make “immediate collapse” an inaccurate description of the results.
What the John Cena match did—and did not—prove
Theory defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 39. WWE’s profile calls that victory the biggest win of Theory’s career; that is WWE’s characterization, not an independent ranking (WWE’s Austin Theory profile). The result gave Theory a high-profile singles achievement, but one major win does not establish that a wrestler will remain in the main-event picture afterward.

To judge whether his momentum declined after WrestleMania, a useful comparison would look at sustained singles feuds, prominent match placement, and results against protected opponents—not just whether he continued to hold a championship. The official records cited here do not provide enough longitudinal detail to score those measures or establish how fans responded.
His later success was in tag teams
WWE’s profile describes Theory teaming with Grayson Waller, including a WWE Tag Team Championship reign, and later joining The Vision and winning tag-team gold with Logan Paul. These accomplishments are evidence of continued championship-level use, but tag-team success is not the same thing as a sustained singles push.

That distinction is central to the “fall from grace” claim. If the claim means Theory did not build the expected singles trajectory after Money in the Bank and WrestleMania, it is a reasonable question to examine. If it means he vanished, stopped winning titles, or was plainly abandoned by WWE, the documented record does not support it.

WWE’s Raw listing includes an October 5, 2026 highlight of Theory and Bron Breakker facing Je’Von Evans and Penta (WWE Raw). This confirms a recent appearance in tag-team action; a selected show listing is not enough to determine his overall booking position or the level of a sustained push.

“One of the biggest falls from grace in WWE history” is an interpretation, not a WWE ranking or a measurable statistic. Establishing it would require a defined comparison with other wrestlers and evidence about expectations, booking, audience response, and lost opportunity over time. The available official record supports a narrower assessment: Theory’s singles momentum may be judged against the expectations his 2022–23 run created, while his championship history and continued programming argue against describing his career as a clear-cut collapse.
