Spoilers for the 2024 theatrical release of Attack on Titan: The Last Attack. Its post-credits scene does not continue Eren’s finale or announce a sequel. Instead, it drops school-age versions of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin into the manga’s comic School Castes setting, where they watch and discuss the movie.
What happens in The Last Attack’s post-credits scene?
The scene follows School Castes versions of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin on a school outing to a theater. After the screening, Armin says he has waited ten years for this day. Mikasa and Armin ask Eren what he thought of the film, and he replies, “If they release a sequel, let’s watch it together.”
The trio also wonders whether the movie they have just watched depicts events from Titan history a century earlier. The sequence ends with the tree associated with Eren’s burial visible in the distance. GamesRadar describes the scene as approximately 45 seconds long; that is an entertainment outlet’s estimate, not an official runtime. GamesRadar’s scene breakdown and ComicBook.com’s account identify the characters and theater gag.
Why is the scene such a tonal surprise?
Attack on Titan is known for a grim fantasy story, but this bonus scene shifts to an everyday school setting and makes the main trio an audience for that story. The joke is self-aware: characters who belong to a lighter alternate setting watch the saga as a movie and react to it, including the long wait referenced by Armin.

GamesRadar identifies the sequence as drawing on School Castes, specifically its “End Roll” story. ComicBook.com likewise notes that School Castes stories appeared at the ends of manga volumes and reports a longer version of the “End Roll” exchange. The scene’s setup is therefore an adaptation of an established comic side setting, not evidence that the main story has suddenly continued in a new direction.
Does the sequel line mean another Attack on Titan story is coming?
No sequel is confirmed by the scene. Eren’s line about watching a sequel together is part of the joke: the characters are discussing the movie they just saw. Neither the line nor the scene itself amounts to an announcement of a new series or film.

The tree in the distance and the characters’ comments have prompted interpretations that School Castes might connect to a future timeline or to the main continuity. Those readings remain speculative. The reported footage does not establish a definitive relationship between School Castes and the main story, or explain the Titan cycle as canon.

This explanation concerns the 2024 theatrical release. Before that release, the official Attack on Titan site announced new post-credits footage but did not reveal what it contained. The portal describes The Last Attack as a 144-minute feature that restructures the two Final Season special versions and was supervised by series director Yuichiro Hayashi. That context matters: the film primarily presents finale material as a feature, with the School Castes sequence as added footage, rather than functioning as a wholly new sequel.

Later rerelease coverage may refer to different bonus material, so “the post-credits scene” is not necessarily a single description for every release. A 2026 GamesRadar search result refers to a separate rerelease scene involving Mikasa and Jean visiting a grave over time, but the underlying page could not be verified here. Do not conflate that reported material with the 2024 School Castes scene; the release version needs to be specified when discussing post-credits footage.
