Director Yuichiro Hayashi said: 「元々一本の映画として観てもらうことを想定してコンテを描いていましたし、こうして劇場という最高の環境で皆様に観ていただく機会を得たのは、自分にとって悲願を達成できた思いです。」 He said he had originally drawn the storyboards with the intention that viewers would see the story as one film, and that the chance to show it in theaters felt like fulfilling a long-held wish. That English wording is a rendering of his Japanese comment, not presented as an official translation.
When did the film open in theaters?
The Japanese theatrical opening was November 8, 2024. The initial announcement described a three-week limited engagement. Later screenings and home-video releases were separate developments, not part of that original run.
Can you buy THE LAST ATTACK on disc?
The official Japanese film site lists two home-video editions released January 21, 2026: a 4K UHD + Blu-ray set and a DVD set. The 4K edition includes the 4K theatrical version, a standard Blu-ray version and bonus video. The official Blu-ray/DVD page lists the editions and contents.
The listing establishes the formats and stated contents, but buyers should check the specific retailer listing for territory and playback compatibility, language and subtitle options, current price and stock. A format label alone does not establish whether a disc will work with a particular player or meet a viewer’s language needs.
