If a payment for DataStax Astra Streaming failed in India, sign in to the DataStax account that provisioned the service and check its displayed billing status, available credits, and saved payment method. The available official guidance does not specify India-specific payment methods or a precise recovery flow, so use the billing controls and support route shown in your account rather than assuming a particular Indian payment option will work.
First, check which “subscription” has a problem
Astra Streaming is DataStax’s cloud event-streaming service built around Apache Pulsar—not a consumer video-streaming subscription. DataStax describes it as a service for event streaming, queuing, and pub-sub on its Astra pricing page; the Terraform Registry also describes the Astra provider as supporting Pulsar-as-a-Service: DataStax Astra provider documentation.
There is a second meaning of “subscription” in Astra Streaming: an application can subscribe to a Pulsar topic to consume messages. Those technical topic subscriptions are distinct from account billing. DataStax’s Astra Streaming API operations documentation covers API operations, not payment recovery. If your application stopped receiving messages but the account is paid and active, changing a payment card is unlikely to address the topic-subscription issue.
Diagnose the payment failure
- Sign in to the right DataStax account. Use the account that provisioned the Astra Streaming service. Review the billing status, credit balance, and payment method displayed there. The available official guidance does not establish a current console menu path, so follow the labels shown in your account.
- Check whether credits have run out. DataStax says a database may be temporarily paused when credits are exhausted. If the account shows depleted credits or a paused service, use the account’s billing or credit controls to address that status. Do not treat an application-level Pulsar topic subscription as a credit balance.
- Check the saved card. Confirm that its details are current and that the card can make the transaction. An expired card or a transaction declined by the issuer may require updating the payment method or contacting the issuer; the available DataStax guidance does not give a specific Indian bank-decline code or retry schedule.
- Use the account’s own billing and support options for India-specific issues. If the account does not show an accepted payment method, or a valid payment still fails, use the support route displayed in the account and ask DataStax to confirm the available payment methods and the recovery steps for your account and plan. The cited public material does not establish an India-specific method list, RBI rule, or universal console recovery path.
What the 30-day notice does—and does not—mean
On its pricing page, DataStax states: “You will be notified and will have 30 days to resolve your payment issue or your database may be suspended.” The page gives this guidance in its card-failure answer for Enterprise plans. It does not establish that the same timeline applies identically to every plan or every payment situation, so check the notice and billing status on your own account rather than treating 30 days as a guaranteed grace period.

If the billing status is clear but streaming still fails
Once the account’s displayed billing issue is resolved, check whether the service is active and whether the problem is instead with the Pulsar application or topic subscription. The API operations documentation is relevant to technical API operations, but it is not payment guidance. If the account remains paused or the cause is unclear, contact DataStax through the account’s support route and provide the account status and the payment error shown there.
