People en Español reportó que el funeral se celebró el domingo 10 de noviembre de 2024, a las 7 p. m., en la iglesia de María Inmaculada, en la colonia Campestre de Mérida.

Camila Sodi anunció la muerte de su madre en Instagram con una publicación que decía: «Ernestina Sodi. Mi mamá, abuela de mis bebés. Noviembre 8 2024. Descansa en paz». Univision informó que el anuncio se difundió durante la madrugada del 9 de noviembre; la fecha del 8 de noviembre aparece en el texto de Camila.

La causa de muerte no fue confirmada por la familia
Univision indicó que la familia no confirmó el parte médico ni la causa del fallecimiento. Por ello, los reportes de terceros sobre posibles diagnósticos no deben presentarse como una confirmación familiar.
