Ashley Jones’s first reported public response after Bar Smith’s July 2024 arrest appeared in her Instagram Stories on August 9, 2024. She said the case was open and the situation was triggering and traumatic, confirmed that she and her daughter Holly were safe, and said she was trying to respond with grace because Holly was watching and Bar was her father.

In a statement reproduced by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup on August 9, 2024, Jones explained why she had not spoken publicly while the case was open. The outlet attributed this wording to her Instagram Stories: “I have been trying to be quiet about all because it’s an open case and it’s also very triggering and traumatic.”

Jones also said she and Holly were safe. She described trying to handle the situation with grace because her daughter was watching, adding that Bar was Holly’s father. The Ashley reproduced that part of the statement as: “I am trying my best to handle this with grace because my child is watching, and at the end of the day Bar is Holly’s father.”
The exact wording is attributed to Jones by The Ashley; the quotations are reproduced in that outlet’s report rather than independently verified against an archived Instagram Story.

What was reported about the arrest
The Ashley reported that Smith was arrested in Nevada on July 7, 2024, and described charges reported at the time. Its contemporaneous August 8 coverage of a 911 call made by Jones’s mother, Tasheilia “Tea” Chapple, included an account of the incident and allegations. Those reports are not a court-established finding of what happened. The sources cited here do not establish the case’s final disposition or Jones’s current position.

Jones’s August Instagram Stories statement is distinct from her later comments. On September 12, 2024, Us Weekly reported on her discussion of the incident in an episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter and in an interview. That later coverage should not be confused with the first public response reported in August.
