Cynthia Erivo pushed him away, and security took control, according to CNA. The incident happened at Universal Studios Singapore.
What happened at the premiere?
During the event carpet at Universal Studios Singapore, a man crossed the barricade and rushed Grande, temporarily disrupting the premiere, CNA reported in its initial account. The incident took place on November 13, 2025, as the cast and guests attended the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good.
CNA’s follow-up report says Erivo intervened and pushed the man away before security rushed in. That sequence explains why Erivo was widely described as protecting Grande, while keeping the reported actions distinct: Erivo intervened, then security took control.
Who rushed Ariana Grande?
CNA identified the man as Johnson Wen and described him as a repeat event crasher. Some headlines characterized him as a fan, but the cited reports do not establish that label as a verified motive for entering the event area. It is more precise to describe what the reporting establishes: Wen crossed the barricade and rushed Grande.

What happened in the legal case?
CBS News reported that Singapore authorities charged the Australian man after the incident. ITV News later reported that Wen pleaded guilty. Those reports establish the charge and guilty plea, but do not establish the full final disposition of the case or any subsequent immigration action.
What is known about premiere security?
CNA published a broader explainer on red-carpet security after the incident. It provides general context about managing crowd access, but does not document the precise staffing, screening measures, or barrier plan used at this premiere. The available reporting therefore supports describing the intrusion and response, not concluding that the event’s security arrangements were inadequate.
