Often, yes: when a YouTube gaming livestream ends, its replay may appear on the channel as a video. But it is not guaranteed. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and the creator controls whether an archive is public, private, or unlisted.
What happens to a gaming livestream after it ends?
YouTube says a channel may post highlights or a replay after a live stream ends. When retained and made available, the replay is presented as a video on the channel. Why a replay may not be available

The creator changed the archive’s visibility

The recording is not available yet or was not retained
A replay is not the same thing as the live broadcast continuing. Check the channel again after the stream ends, then look in its Videos or live-stream archive listings. If no replay appears, the creator may not have retained or published one, or the stream may not have been captured.
Replay versus DVR: what viewers can do
DVR controls pausing and rewinding while a broadcast is still live; it does not determine whether a later archive exists. If DVR is disabled, viewers cannot seek backward during the live stream, but YouTube says they can still watch the full recording once it is available. For very long streams, DVR may be limited or unavailable, and viewers cannot seek to a point before the broadcast began. YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams

How to check for a missing gaming replay
- Open the creator’s channel and check the Videos tab and live-stream archive listings for a completed replay.
- If you own the channel, open YouTube Studio, go to Content, and select the Live tab. Check whether the archive is present and review its visibility setting. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
- Consider how long the broadcast ran. YouTube’s stated automatic archiving guidance applies to streams shorter than 12 hours; longer streams may not be captured.
- Do not use DVR behavior during the live broadcast as proof that a later replay will or will not exist.
Creator tip: keep a local backup
YouTube recommends creators keep a local archive as a backup. Its encoder guidance suggests verifying that the local archive file is growing while streaming.
