Spoiler: Olandria Carthen and Nic Vansteenberghe looked set to leave Love Island USA during Season 7’s Casa Amor twist, but they were not permanently eliminated. They were offered a choice: recouple with each other and return to the Villa, or go home. They chose to return together.
Why did Olandria and Nic look like they were leaving?
Casa Amor split the Islanders between the main Villa and a second villa, where they could meet new bombshells. In the early recoupling, Zak stood with Amaya, leaving Olandria single. Nic was also left without a match at the main Villa. Both were shown packing and saying goodbye, and a car brought Olandria to meet Nic. Peacock’s Week 3 recap ended the scene as a cliffhanger, making it appear that their journeys might be over: Peacock’s Week 3 recap.
The uncertainty came from a Season 7 addition to the usual Casa Amor setup. The show’s standard format sends one group to a second villa to meet new Islanders while the other group stays behind, testing existing connections; it does not, by itself, explain the special choice Olandria and Nic faced. USA Network describes the general format in its Casa Amor explainer.
What was the Casa Amor choice?
In Peacock’s Week 4 recap, the pair were told they could recouple with each other and re-enter the Villa, or go home. They chose to recouple and return. They said they had chemistry and had enjoyed kissing during challenges. Their return was a route back into the show—not proof that they had been permanently eliminated and then reinstated: Peacock’s Week 4 recap.

Host Ariana Madix had been quoted ahead of the twist saying, “Everyone will be returning this year.” The line described the season’s Casa Amor setup; it was not a guarantee that no Islander could be temporarily separated, faced with a choice, or shown an apparent exit. TV Insider/Swooon’s contemporaneous report provides that context.
Did they stay together after returning?
No—not as a couple at first. After returning, Olandria and Nic kissed outside a challenge and decided they did not feel a romantic vibe. They went back to being friends: Olandria turned her attention to Taylor, while Nic pursued Cierra. Peacock recounts that change in its Week 5 recap.

Did Olandria and Nic reunite later?
Yes. They reconnected later in Season 7 and finished as runners-up. The Associated Press independently reported their finale placement in its finale coverage. That later reunion was distinct from their first return as a pair: their initial romantic experiment ended in friendship before they coupled up again.
